So this dude works in AI but can’t read?
I saw this on Reddit and saw everyone taking it seriously and thought “Ha, the lack reading literacy on this site is insane”.
But you guys are doing the same thing.
This is a parody guys. Calm down.
Poe’s law teaches us that any satire, sufficiently advanced, is indistinguishable from sincerity.
-
The effectiveness of clever on other people is highly contingent on outside factors, over which you have no control and of which you may not have any knowledge; i.e., just because you intended to be clever doesn’t mean you will be perceived as clever, for all sorts of reasons.
-
The failure mode of clever is “asshole.”
How “advanced” the satire is is a sliding scale though, depending on the intelligence of the audience.

How are those of us who aren’t chronically online supposed to know some douche on Twitter is a parody account or not?
Because people like this guy literally exist in real life.
And seeing how often people take things way too seriously and jump at things out of context, it won’t surprise me that post will likely encourage others to do this. Monkey see, monkey do.
Honestly, Lemmy used to be a refreshing departure from Reddit when people were joining because they hated Spez for political reasons, but now people just hate ads and are miffed about the moderator upheaval. Lemmy is basically just ad-free Reddit with worse moderation now.
Overall, it’s still better than Reddit, but that’s a low bar. I’m starting to think that social media, federated or not, is a bad idea. We need to bring back topical forums and ban people for being off-topic and wrong.

Starting?
I miss the days of just simple message boards and shit.
Connect your family calendars and explain your kids’ interests. Every morning for the drive to school, have it make a podcast that talks about one kid’s soccer game that afternoon, one kid’s upcoming birthday, some news, etc.

I’ve seen tech bros unironically argue that
- The sole purpose of art is the end product
- The objectively correct thing to do with a piece of human-made art that is not up to your standard of quality is to feed it through an image to image model to “improve” it so that it is up to a publishable standard
- Their LLM is better than them at their day job
- Resolving marital disputes by asking ChatGPT who’s right is an appropriate thing to do
- Letting an LLM answer every single email you get eliminates the need to read them yourself
- An LLM is sapient and has its own thoughts and opinions
- Making and eating food is a waste of time, and eliminating it from their day using meal replacement shakes feels “liberating”
In light of that, this isn’t too farfetched.

Okay, as soon as our planet breaks apart in a world ending way, I’ll allow an AI voice to read kids bedtime stories
@[email protected] your future I guess but anarchic
These people are becoming parodies now. Im convinced they are trolling us
I don’t believe that man has ever touched a fellow human enough to marry, let alone procreate
She should train a not-divorced-woman model

Fucking loser.
Brought to you by the creators of, “just give them an ipad” and “call the cops there’s a kid outside playing”
I know this is about the AI but the unaddressed elephant in the room is that people romanticize the idea of having children and realizing it’s not what they expected or really wanted. Society constantly puts pressure on people having kids.
I know people who would die to have children so they can see them become successful well adjusted adults. Those people can have kids.
I also know people who dont want to have kids. They dont have to.
I also also know people who really want kids, but in the way a person would want a dog, so they can train it to be good, hit it when its bad, and itll never be older than 3 years because they havent thought that far ahead. These people should be sterilized.
Hah yeah I agree on the last statement. That’s why I have such a negative outlook on the subject. Once you fill out CPS reports, you start to have more negative outlooks such as maybe there should be a license to have kids.

dude…so much this.
I had zero romantic thoughts of having kids. I didn’t even want them, honestly. my wife and literally everyone around us on the other hand, very much so wanted us to have kids.
don’t judge though. as a current parent I don’t ignore my responsibilities and fully intend on giving my kids the best I can. at least, a better more loving home than I had.
but man, life would be so much easier without them. I literally could be on a beach somewhere in the world right now if I didn’t have kids. have lunch in Paris. then stop by in Denmark for some dinner.
by the time they can stand on their own I’ll be dead. so now I can only save money in hopes to help soften any financial hardships they will need to endure.
I’ve been playing around with the idea of recording some “dad’s wisdom” videos for them when they get older and I’m not around.
The video idea sounds pretty good.
I went separate ways with my ex-fiancee over this topic. It wasn’t so much as I was against having kids, I had conditions such as financial stability and owning a home. And deep down I didn’t want to take care of two people and be financially responsible for everything, my ex-fiancee already had a hard time holding down a job.
But like you said, even now that I have my own place, I’m more motivated to travel than get into that lifestyle. I’m sure I would have been a decent parent having worked in education but the tradeoffs are too steep for me.
If this is real that guy is an absolute psycho who probably shouldn’t be responsible of children.
