You can’t give the blanket “Democrats” credit for this. The degree to which the Democratic establishment fought to keep guys like him out if power can’t be understated. However the progressive parts of the democratic party are growing in strength and number by the day. I hope some day the party stands up for half of what he does. This is the only guy who makes me hopeful for the future
I would do some personal digging on Gavin Newsom. He seems to be very much a classic politician, i.e. he’ll say whatever he thinks his base wants to hear. But he is notably very flaky on trans allyship in legislature.
It’s called doing anything. Like, these things he’s doing are great, but it really shouldn’t be headlines. These things should just be normal politician things. They’re great because every other fucking politician doesn’t give half a shit about their people, but they shouldn’t be. They should be boring things, that are done, and you don’t even know it has happened.
