Have we not learned by now that bubbles don’t pop? They’re are no bubbles.
Imagine that, the great labor replacer is worthless for most tasks and losing tens of billions of dollars a year isn’t sustainable.
Though, ironically, it’s pretty good at helping people ignore corporate(Sony) DRM. I wonder if Anthropic will showcase that project at their next investor meeting…
Don’t invest in a company run by a guy that raped his little sister
Woah what? This is the first Im hearing of this
She claimed it a while ago but it was from their childhood. I think the best outcome, at this point, would be if she won a defamation case.
They should have asked AI what to do /s
Hahahahaha
The demand for AI that is NOT shoved down everyone’s throat is likely very small (taken in context)… which is why they will put it everywhere, whether you want it or not, so they can turn and pretend all of it is actual demand
Oh, teetering. Is Scam altman not a billionaire now. Fucking bullshit.
They’re spending a "trillion* every year with a 50 billion take in. It is way more than 20 billion.
Enshitification guy with Jon Stewart explaining what’s going on in AI: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dAIJRjb-Bw
Isn’t Jon Stewart a black space cop with a magic ring?
The $20 billion is less than what they expected, not their total shortfall. They expected $50 billion and got $30 billion or whatever the actual numbers are.
70 & 50 rather than 50&30 but yes exactly
So PR math again.
Yawn. This shit’s been teetering on the brink for years now. Wake me up when it finally collapses.
8/2027 is when they run completely out of money at their current burn rate.
Not if they find more fools to fleece.
Those folks keep getting more and more options too be fleeced by. There’s only so much to go around to keep the bubble inflated
Not to mention the free, open source models you can run even on older phones that are plenty good enough for most use cases and don’t hoover up morbid amounts of personal data to later leak. Those aren’t very profitable for any of the big companies. Oh well.
I knew they were desperate once I saw them try to fleece professional mathematicians.
Burned $30 million in processing power to earn a $1 million math prize.

AI is very efficient at burning money it seems.
But the money is flowing in a circle, will it ever truly run out?
The only people walking away right now with money are the hardware manufacturers.
TSMC is spending it, isn’t it?
That circle of money has leaks going to power, construction, electricity, water, etc. No one is making any profit off of this shit yet, and increasing users is only increasing their expenditure. Banks well only give so much leeway. They just posted a $20 bn loss, and postponed their IPO. They’re circling the drain. Cheaper competitors spring up daily
As ever, someone is profiting - be it power companies, Cemex, etc.
Selling shovels to gold miners, etc
But surely this massive financial failure is due to OpenAI purposefully self-harming by not releasing their latest models due to their own ethical concerns over safety. It is the very high moral standing of the corporate leadership, sacrificing profit for the safety of humanity, that has caused this loss.
Worth a try.
Were you able to keep a straight face while writing that?
Easy to do when acclimatised by actual corporate positions far more removed from reality.
Now to play Is this Sarcasm or AI Psychosis?
I doubt anyone is so far gone that they believe that grift.
Oh I cannot wait to hear Ed Zitron’s take on this. I’m sure he’ll say something about a “dog’s asshole on Thanksgiving”. Lol.
