It turns out that AI demand is significantly lower than expected, as OpenAI shaves $20 billion off its revenue expectations for 2026.

Yawn. This shit’s been teetering on the brink for years now. Wake me up when it finally collapses.

8/2027 is when they run completely out of money at their current burn rate.

Not to mention the free, open source models you can run even on older phones that are plenty good enough for most use cases and don’t hoover up morbid amounts of personal data to later leak. Those aren’t very profitable for any of the big companies. Oh well.

I knew they were desperate once I saw them try to fleece professional mathematicians.

AI is very efficient at burning money it seems.

But the money is flowing in a circle, will it ever truly run out?

          Is AI profitable?

The only people walking away right now with money are the hardware manufacturers.

That circle of money has leaks going to power, construction, electricity, water, etc. No one is making any profit off of this shit yet, and increasing users is only increasing their expenditure. Banks well only give so much leeway. They just posted a $20 bn loss, and postponed their IPO. They’re circling the drain. Cheaper competitors spring up daily

As ever, someone is profiting - be it power companies, Cemex, etc.

Selling shovels to gold miners, etc
