Etiquette: How do you ask someone if they got their answer from a chatbot?
I wanted a very specific list of TV episodes. I queried a chatbot for the list, but thought, you know what, there’s a dedicated bunch of nerds for this, so I asked lemmy.
Someone made several different lists related to what I was a looking for, including one with EXACTLY what I was looking for. I’ve seen 3 episodes on that list so far, only 1 has matched my exact criteria. If they didn´t use a chatbot, they certainly didn´t do much better than a chatbot would have.
I’d pad it out with praise for the picks. Maybe ask them how they got it so on point and throw your concern as to whether it’s an AI recommendation in as a joke.

But if I bring it up, do I look like an asshole?

You’re already putting more effort into caring about them than they did about their answer. Etiquette requirements met.
