It’s simply the only bipartisan issue, so it becomes the most important issue by default. It’s not actually the most important issue, it’s just the most important thing that everyone agrees on.

Bad headlines are life now. The real story is why data centers are the easy target to rally behind attacking when they’re just doing what has been done by other things in the past in the name of progress or expansion. It’s not that it’s wrong to try and stop them, just that some people have been across this line long before data centers for other stuff, and it took either AI outrage or a new group of people being displaced to make this a sudden problem.
