Alternative title: Hank Green lost his composure and crashed out about Sora2
- Honestly depressing because Sora2 had turn the internet from sceptical to outright cynical. You can trust 0 thing you see now.
- Not gonna lie, some of the videos are fun and entertaining but, like, the flip side of that is: - Who is going to pay for this? Surely it is extremely expensive.
- The incredible amount of harm it’s going to cause. People are already extremely gullible and this will most certainly be used not only to manipulate but also as a scapegote. ie: making videos of politicians saying things they didn’t, and politicians claiming things they said were AI. One of the first things people started making was manufactured bombings.
 - When Sora was launched, I made my dad watch a ton of the videos. Just so he’d know it wasn’t just possible, it was EASY to fake a video. - Didn’t stop him from asking me how an America’s Got Talent contestant turned himself into a lion, though lol - an America’s Got Talent contestant turned himself into a lion - I haven’t seen this video, but I sure can envision it. - He showed me a bunch of similar videos…I should also be clear, he didn’t think the human actually turned into a lion - he thought it was some kind of stage illusion. He’s gullible but he doesn’t believe in literal magic - For sure. I’m just saying I’ve seen enough AI slop I can picture the video.

- Yeah i was thinking about your second point back when sora1 is released, with how quick info can travel and how fast people make decision and judgement, it’s not gonna be great. - What is really absurd is that their “fix” is a watermark. As if I didn’t learn to get watermarks out with some free program on windows in the early 2000s. - They know it’s not a fix. They just went with a half-assed “solution” so they appear as though they care. Watermarks have never worked, specially Sora2’s small one, and they know that.

- Sora 2 is the point where people start realising how bad this is? - I think this sub has a bit of a skewered perspective on what the average consumer considers acceptable or not. If it makes them laugh or wtv, most people don’t care how it was made. Sora 2 being high quality and broadly accessible isn’t going to make people realize “how bad it is” imo.

- The average person doesn’t care about the harm these technologies do/will cause. They don’t care about the environmental impact, the stolen creative works or the ethics around it. And because of that it’s here to stay. When you create a society of consumers that’s exactly what they’ll do.
 - Mr. Krabs Altman says “MONEY!”
- Just yesterday I came across some Sora generated memes and damn, it was obviously fake (to me) but it looked so real, I am sure some people out there will totally believe this stuff. Misinformation is going to get wild - Propaganda only has to be a message that they want to hear. That’s why the outrage networks work so well.

- What in the everloving fuck is going on
