If you are expected you open the door and come in. The Boston Dynamics dogs have a number of failsafe stop modes. One of which is loss of controller connection. Which can be made from some shit from the hardware store and a circuit board you can order online.

I heard a podcast where they were discussing the recent apocolyptic warnings about AI possibily ending humanity. The interviewer was asking how this was supposed to happen. Various ideas were bandied about, such as AI making a virus and the like.
But maybe it was just killer robot dogs:
