Time and time again, Jeffries has refused to endorse his own party’s official candidate for mayor in his own city, two months after Zohran Mamdani won the Democratic mayoral primary in New York by double digits – including Jeffries’ own congressional district by eight points.

This is the same Democratic party leader who has insisted in the past that progressives should “vote BLUE (no matter who)”. But centrists? Apparently, they’re under no such obligation.

Jeffries is not alone in his brazen hypocrisy. Chuck Schumer, the Senate minority leader who represents the state of New York and lives in the city of New York, has also refused to endorse his own party’s official candidate for mayor of New York.

    Yes, it is.

They are, in the purest sense of the term, traitors. They have overtly and deliberately betrayed their own party and their voters.

What are you talking about? They’ve been loyal to their corporate masters for their entire careers. They are, if anything, too unwavering in their dedication to see the writing on the wall.

he’s a corporate democrat like most of the leadership is and was never on anyone’s side besides the ruling class.

Given that the entire Democratic Party, at the national level, is managed opposition, and not just its leaders.

It’s not going to change much if they stepped down today.

Nothing will significantly change in the USA, for most people, until there is a new burst of activity in local city and county politics. And not just some enlightened movements in too few large cities

It has been time for ol chucky to step down for about 10 years. Jeffries has been a complete failure and I had high hopes. Guess Nancy made sure her predecessor was worse than her. Hard to find really.

Reminder that republicans resisted Trump too, even a after it was evident that he was going to win. Trump didn’t let that stop him and ultimately he remade the party in his image. The old guard will always resist change. But there’s a real hunger for the kind of policies Mamdani represents among the people, and as of yet, the power still rests ultimately on the people.

Trump is the ultimate case study on how to gain power against the establishment in the US, the left would do well to learn his playbook.

I don’t think there’s a figure out there but a big percentage of the GOP that resisted outright got voted out by MAGA. Many of them either left politics or became democrats. Money was more a secondary factor I think; keep in mind that Trump, even in its second term, had a hard time finding funds compared with the democratic establishment. Kamala had a lot more money to campaign with than Trump and still lost.

    They won’t.

When it comes time to shut down Donald’s government again, they will hand Donald the silver platter just like they did before.
