They’re doing 50 kmh at best, even without a helmet your chances of serious injury are pretty low. People fall off motorbikes all the time at far greater speeds.
Falling off a bike at 50 kph means you’re hitting the ground with the same speed as a 10 meter fall. Please go jump off a three story building and then come back to report how harmless it is.
“falling aoff the motorcycle that is moving faster than people can sprint, even without a helmet, isn’t that dangerous”
As someone who sells and fixes bicycles this is THE STUPIDEST FUCKING THING I’VE READ THIS WEEK. And I heard someone recently say “at least dolly Parton knew to stay out of politics”
ANY fall off a bike, motorized or not, can be fatal. If you’re moving, those chances go up. If you’re moving a heavy or large bike, it’s even greater. It’s why I refuse to sell bikes to anyone who says they don’t wear helmets.
People have fallen from higher than the tallest building and survived. Doesn’t mean it’s not insanely dangerous.
Because they are wearing highly advanced protective gear, are trained how to take a fall, are in peak physical condition, and are racing in an environment specially designed to protect them.
This is an incorrect, dangerous, and irresponsible thing to say. You can very easily die at 5km/h on a motorcycle. Your body is not as tough as you think it is.
Yes it’s possible with unfortunate circumstances. “Very easily die at 5 km/h” is demonstrably untrue, as though a significant amount of people that start up a bike die horribly. Yes bikes/mopeds/motorcycles are more dangerous than cars but it’s dumb to misrepresent reality like this.
The second half of your statement demonstrates how the bikers are acting unsafely in the first place.
My comment isn’t even really about motorcycles being extra dangerous. I ride every day that weather allows and have for over 30 years.
It is more about how remarkably fragile some of our bodies’ weak points are. Perhaps I could have worded it better. But to me ‘easily die’ just means unexpected stuff can happen when putting a bike down at all. Not that there is necessarily a high likelihood of it happening at that speed, just that it is easy.
Surely there is no nuance or inbetween option available. Surely they should just get the death penalty for such horrid theft and disrespect of the sanctity of physical posessions.

If you hit a solid object, then it’s an equivalent comparison. Usually you just slide to a stop.

Can be? Sure. Likely to be? Not really. And if they’re not wearing a helmet, that’s their problem anyway.
I have a scar from when a car pulled in front of me while I was going walking speed on a bicycle.
Shut the fuck up.
I don’t believe you were going walking speed. And I know people who have dropped a bike in a corner multiple times, and just got up.
You want a picture?
The fuck is wrong with you?
Fucking ghoul.
I think you’re making shit up, to be honest.
Fucking idiot.
That’s it? That’s your horrible scar?
What a drama queen.
And usually die horrible deaths at said speeds…
No, they don’t. Have you ever seen MotoGP? Those guys will drop their bike at hundreds of KMH, get up, and walk away quite often.
Because they are wearing highly advanced protective gear, are trained how to take a fall, are in peak physical condition, and are racing in an environment specially designed to protect them.
Yeah, and if they can do it at hundreds of KMH, normal people can do it at 30.
This is an incorrect, dangerous, and irresponsible thing to say. You can very easily die at 5km/h on a motorcycle. Your body is not as tough as you think it is.
Not a comment on anything else but this is a ridiculous statement.
Let me know when you’ve got 100,000 km of saddle time and then we can have this chat again.
I’ve got over five times that and you’re wrong.
Motorcycles are known for sharing roads with other vehicles.
But yeah in isolation a broken ankle is far more likely at these speeds, not exactly life threatening in most cases.
You could be going 0km/h and fall off and die if you’re in the middle of the fucking road and someone hits you so like… yeah.

One wrong twist of the neck from a bad fall and you’re dead.
The bastard cops shouldn’t be doing this.
Yeah, the big meanies should just let them snatch all the phones they want and terrorise pedestrians.
Go fuck yourself.
You’re advocating summary execution for traffic violations.
Why are you absolutely convinced any fall on a motorbike is fatal? You’re absolutely everywhere in this thread making the same argument.
People fall off the things all the time.
Ah yes, the only to options:
Surely there is no nuance or inbetween option available. Surely they should just get the death penalty for such horrid theft and disrespect of the sanctity of physical posessions.
They actually do just run these twits over quite often, with massive public support.
