Albany authorities said the man saw the woman drop the money at the store and could have faced charges in the case. However, because he returned the $30, charges would not be filed.

If you see someone drop money and then you take it, however is that different in terms of criminal code if you don’t see someone drop the money and then take it? It makes you an asshole, but what is the actual difference in terms of a criminal charge? Does it fall under some Good Samaritan laws?
I don’t have a link, but I do remember reading the article about this about a week ago. I think it happened in a Walmart, and the article didn’t really go into details about what the actual crime was.

Seems like the lady was littering. The guy was rescuing her from being charged with the crime of littering.
Happened inside a Walmart in Georgia. No idea what legal difference that would make.
