determination of violating U.S. law, pending transfer to another law enforcement agency on an
extraditable warrant, or if accompanying a family member being processed for appropriate
immigration proceedings. Available data indicate that OFO held U.S. citizens longer than 24
hours on 562 occasions from October 1, 2019, through April 30, 2021.

Refusing to unlock your properly secured device for them will result in its confiscation and perhaps your detention.

If you’re a us citizen, they cannot detain you indefinitely. What that means isn’t legally defined yet, but seems to be around 4 - 8 hours.
