I just don’t understand the thinking here. In what way could doing this possibly have improved anything about his situation?

There’s a very nonzero chance it wasn’t intentional. More likely than not probably.
Apparently the guy wanted to return the car, cancel the purchase, dealer didn’t want to do that so he returned the car that way. I assume thats the normal way of returning goods over in that part of the world, just chuck them through the shop window.

Well it doesn’t have lidar sensors that auto brake when you are going to run into the car in front of you, that much I am fairly sure of… But then again I’ve never had a car that has either.
