I love these posts that are “I created a community for X” then there’s nothing there.
There should be a rule or something that the community needs at least 10 posts before it can be shared here. I swear to god that’s like half the posts I see.

I have one HDD that survived 20+ years, and an aliexpress SSD that died in 6 months. Therefore all SSDs are garbage!!!
That’s also the only SSD I’ve ever had fail on me and I’ve had them since 2011. In that same time I’ve had probably 4 HDDs fail on me. Even then I know to use data from companies like backblaze that have infinitely more drives than I have.
For servers physical space is also a huge concern. 2.5” drives cap out at like 6tb I think, while you can easily find an 8tb 2.5” SSD anywhere. We have 16tb drives in one of our servers at work and they weren’t even that expensive. (Relatively)
Start with a VM on your computer and see what you want to do/need from there.
Leaving a laptop on is (almost) free.
DSC is lossless compression.
Demand also isn’t there. The iPhone SE sold ok, but the other thing to keep in mind was that it was the cheap iPhone too so it’s supposed to sell.
If it was outselling the main model every year then they’d keep making them small. But they didn’t so they got dropped.
What annoys me is the road to work in the morning actually seems to do the opposite. It’s a 35 or 40mph road, but if you do 40 you’re not gonna make it through without stopping. But if you do 50-60? No stops.
Once again though people don’t pick up on this.
Depends on the ratio. Salt on eggs is like 1% salt to 99% eggs. Creamer, sugar, and anything else could change it from 95% coffee to maybe 20% coffee. At 20% coffee is that really what you’re enjoying?
No company wants to stay stagnant. They want to grow. You can’t grow if you’re not making more money.
A lot of these places are sweat shops with computers.
Well to be fair they said to remove all mentions of gender from government documentation. They meant ALL of it.
Imagine how hard it is to be this bad. Yet still people manage to do it.
1/3 of my refurbished drives died early. It tested fine before I put it in my raid array, but about 3 months in I was getting error after error. I swapped it with my spare and they’ve been fine so far.
What “merits” needing a CPU upgrade? I upgraded from a core i9 11950h to a 13900h machine because I needed more performance. That 11th gen machine still looks pristine besides one spot where a cat bit the corner of the lid. Even my piddling around machine wasn’t up to snuff and upgraded from a 10th gen i5 to a 12th gen system. That machine’s keyboard was a bit worn when I first got it, but it’s not (appreciably) worse now. Besides that and maybe the palm rest the chassis is in pretty good condition. Why does it matter if the keycaps are a little smooth? Or there’s a small scuff on one corner. Or a cat punctured the bezel of the display and somehow didn’t break anything.
You’re worried about the screen being worn out? How does a screen wear out (excluding maybe oled burn in, but this aint oled). And a good chassis shouldn’t show that much wear after a few years.
They’re still far better than everything else on the market.
IdeaPads also aren’t ThinkPads. Those are the consumer grade garbage you’d want to stay away from.
That’s cool. Performance per dollar isn’t the only factor for a laptop.
Size
Weight
Durability
Battery life
I/O and other features.
A not dogshit network card
An actually usuable trackpad
I’m sure I could list more. But those are all things that are important on a laptop and you can’t change after you buy it.
The law requires things to have a backdoor (or non encryption I guess). So it’s either sell in that market, or don’t and have security.
The first Android phone had the nipple, so must be the layout or something.
It’s only good for data processing and can’t be used for gaming. It’s basically like two GTX 760s glued together with a fuck ton of vram. Also you need a server to use it properly. You can funnel air through it using desk fans but you cannot use this thing unmodified in a desktop.
