I don’t understand the resistance to changing platforms that many people and especially companies show.
For example the company I work for refuses to consider anything except Xitter. Casually talking with the people running social media, I concluded they think about platforms as a fixed fact of nature, rather than something flexible that you can experiment with.

There’s basically a minimal cost to having a multi-platform presence. Copy/paste your posts to 3 places, there are even tools to automate it.

In his defense, in 1721 vaccines were really a new unproven technology. And if you don’t know it works, or even what causes diseases in the first place, it’s reasonable to be skeptical. It’s also reasonable to change your mind when you see it does really work.

Interesting observations. The behavior on dating apps is prime stuff for sociological research. I wonder what even more data from really big apps could reveal.
The author doesn’t seem to question the current role of dating in society and takes it as a given, but that’s fine observing phenomena from within the system is not invalid.

Periodically sending a proof of life is common in many pension systems. Usually not required for citizens, since the government already has the data. But if you have earned a pension in one country and reside in another you will be required to send a paper proving that you’re still alive.

For a while now Linux has been better at most personal computing things except gaming. And for server uses an even longer time.

There are some specific hardware/software situations where you’ll need Windows but it’s unlikely to happen at home. Unless you have very peculiar hobbies.
