Do you think it’s a modern phone thing? I used to always be able to feel my phone vibrating. But when I got a new phone several years back, I was frustrated to find that I couldn’t feel the damn thing vibrating in my pocket and I’d miss calls and texts.

Yeah I don’t get what the issue is with notification sounds.

I’m not sure what it is, but ever since I got a more modern phone, the vibration motor has just gotten so weak compared to older phones I’ve used. I legitimately do not feel my phone vibrating in my pocket.

So when I’m at work, if I’m expecting a message, I actually have to turn the sound on and listen for it as opposed to feel it vibrating. I hardly get any notifications tho.

I’m not Olympian by any means, but this makes me feel a bit better about my running. I’ve never really run before but I have been trying to do it semi consistently since March. For whatever reason, while I’ve been able to run longer and longer distances, I never seem to be able to run much faster. I tried a couple of times the other week and I almost threw up after one of them lol. I think I’m just going to have to accept that I’m a slow runner! I like running at my own comfortable pace better. Idk.

In some places, people also give out phones to the needy because of how cheap they are. Somehow my mom’s boyfriend got one despite him not being poor…I think it’s because he’s old and retired.

There are certain degree paths where it will net you a specific career path. The healthcare field is very particular about the specific degree/certification/licensure you have. In that regard, schooling makes sense for those.

First of all, my parents have never had much if ever at all in the way of savings. Tbh not sure what’s going to happen when they aren’t going to be able to work anymore.

But I’m with you. I absolutely never understood why people ever feel like they are entitled to their parents money. Your parents earned that, not you. If my parents were never able to leave me a dime, I wouldn’t give a shit. Even if they had a million dollars. I didn’t earn that. I have no right to someone else’s money.

I would feel different in scenarios where we are talking about a minor. If a 12 year old becomes orphaned, then yes, they should 100% be entitled to their parents’ funds.

But why in the everliving fuck do people as adults feel entitled to money that is not theirs and they didn’t earn? Incredibly bizarre concept to me.

Weird. All post images load perfectly fine on my end, but I have seen others complain of the issue you describe. I am also running version 2.18.4, but I am on Android instead.

And then you have some ridiculous retailers that don’t allow you to hold a package for pickup anymore. What the hell happened to that? I feel like it used to be when I had a package that needed a signature I could just request for it to be held at the parcel service center for me to pick it up later.

But the last two times I had a package with a signature required, it wouldn’t allow me to do that. The package was going to be returned to the sender for ridiculous reasons. One was an age restricted item which I can kind of get, but the other wasn’t. Both times I had to beg and plead with the delivery company to hold the parcel even though it was not something they were supposed to do.

And people wonder why Amazon gets so much business. They don’t make me take days off from work so I can hopefully receive a fucking package of the delivery person actually feels like ringing my doorbell.

Never again with packages requiring a signature for me. I don’t work from home and my workplace is not in a location that can receive packages.

I didn’t realize that I had turned it on on my prior phone. Welp, my phone absolutely died one day and would no longer power on. I was really sad about losing my photos and videos, but then when I got my new phone I was happy to find out that at some point I turned on photos cloud backups.

Yeah, I’m with you on that. Everyone on Lemmy loves password managers, but I don’t really like the idea of entrusting all of my passwords for everything with one singular program. I actually also dislike 2 factor authentication. One time my phone broke and my bank wanted to verify my identity to purchase a new phone. Except my phone was broken so I couldn’t… Yeah I really don’t want to run into that scenario again except worse.

I’ve actually gone old school with it and I keep most passwords physically written down in a notebook using my own cypher language/pictograms. If someone irl really wants to break into my home, find the notebook, and try to decode it, I’d be in bigger trouble to begin with. It’s very unlikely.

My mom’s dog goes nuts when she finds tissues coated in boogers in the trashcan or if she finds underwear that has been worn for a day. She acts like she’s at an all you can eat buffet.
