The twitter account stuff actually has bonuses but no real negatives. A position is usually created to deal with the engagement so someone gets hired, people see random tweets that are sometimes amusing but if they’re not you can ignore them with no effort, and the company gets to advertise while keeping it in-house and the costs way down in comparison to traditional advertising.

This decision has no positives and all negatives.

I don’t understand what the logic was behind this decision. Like… literally no one wins.

1. Baristas are handed extra unnecessary and tedious as fuck work

2. Customers are just confused but also having to wait longer because that little bit of writing adds up with everything else. Then there’s the fact you typically just look for your name, now you’ve got extra written text to throw you.

3. Corporate doesn’t make as much profit because pen costs are gonna rise and wait times are gonna extend

Your last paragraph is just untrue. One of the biggest complaints is that they routinely lock stuff in a DLC that should be in the base game.

Yep. Will never happen. It would require @Corgana, owner of Startrek.website, to stop letting @ValueSubtracted walk all over him. Corgana either simply doesn’t care, has gotten too deep and doesn’t want to deal with the fallout with Value, or simply has no spine. Everything could be changed but it revolves entirely around the behavior of Corgana and the decisions he will make. From everything that I’ve seen, he’s a really good person who has a really good head on his shoulders. I don’t know why he’s decided to throw his chips in with a manipulative narcissist like ValueSubtracted.

Value has no power and, hilariously, zero value of his own. He does not contribute to the running of the site, he only contributes to posting. He has no involvement outside of reporting back to Corgana. Corgana, consequently, doesn’t really post anything himself. If Corgana is relying entirely on Value to make the content then he’s driving away all of the other people who want to engage because they would have to deal with the ineptitude, petty behavior, childish temper tantrums, abuse, lies, and manipulation of ValueSubtracted. However if he got rid of Value then the community would thrive under its own power because they wouldn’t have to deal with the sporadic emotional freakouts of Value.

It would be funny if it wasn’t so utterly pathetic.

Lemmy.world has defederated from Lemmy.ml but even before I moved over here, I had been avoiding them on my old instance. Why? They were removing posts with no notification and had banned me with no notification or warning. What was the post? A Jimmy Neutron meme. “This is my first gay character!” “Disney, this is your 14th first gay character”. My title said something like “It’s always the first in China when they’re removed before airing”. What was the reason? Rule 1 of the site as a whole. I talked with another very heavy poster and he had stuff removed as well with no warning. Also had a dicey conversation with an admin. Just gave up and started avoiding it. I don’t think I ever got permanently banned from there (although I did from Hexbear for ‘perjery’) but if I did I wouldn’t have cared much.

Modlog is weird. There is a possibility he’s been banned from an instance and that’s what he meant.

When I was banned from StarTrek.Website I had no idea. It didn’t show in Lemmy.world logs, only ST.W ones

Edit: Yep. He was banned from lemmy.ml. Funny enough, that should actually improve his lemmy experience.

There’s a difference between believing in communism and being a Communist. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.

Trek overall though isn’t Communist. There are too many glaring inconcsistencies to claim the Federation as being Communist. It’s a post-scarcity socialism.

I never stated that you would ban me. I said you were on the same path with the same mindset. You react to opinion about your behavior as a moderator the exact same way that the mods of that other community does. No matter how much you want to pretend that it is, saying that someone doesn’t believe in your ability to be impartial isn’t aggressive. It is merely an opinion about your behavior and how you would be able to take criticism. Your immediate reaction of “Be more polite” is quite telling. Instead of questioning why and trying to take feedback and criticism as a mod should, you immediately became defensive.

I do find it strange that you call out my opinion thinking you’re aggressive and a mod shouldn’t think that and also do the exact same thing yourself.

Well, the difference here is that I merely voiced a basic opinion about your behavior as a moderator and you immediately reacted by effectively saying “Be nicer to me”. You actively insulted multiple people who were involved in the production and projected your opinion as fact. Those two do not equate.
