    The library is still there. The books are still free. There’s no charge for admission.

    Admittedly, the card catalogue is now covered in slop, so it’s a bit harder to find things. But, everything’s still there.

      Vast swaths of the internet have extinguished over time. The last bastion holding the glue together of the old internet remains largely in the internet archive and Space Jam’s website from 1996. Most of what is left is the fascist commercial conglomerates capitalizing on the remains.

      The point is that not only are these companies turning public work into products, they’re also choking the last bit of life left out of the old internet, and driving up the price so that no one can ever make their own thing on the internet.

      This, the library is still there but now you can pay a librarain to tell you anything about any book in the library, but they might misremember parts lol.
