The US is huge and it might take several hours to a day or more to get another car brought out if you’re in a rural area. So if possible, it’s usually faster to work your way towards wherever the car is coming from.
Use to meet up with my buddy that lived in another state every time he had to tow a car to ‘the nearest dealer’ for warranty work which was 6-7 hours away. We’d have lunch and he’d head back.
Going up to a higher comment. Co-worker was in an accident. They just got the car back from the shop after ~7 months because a part was on backorder and the car wasn’t drivable. His insurance paid for his rental for that duration but part availability is a valid concern.
