Hasan Piker, an influential streamer and political commentator, has recently criticized Cornell University for allegedly punishing Palestinian student activists more severely than students accused of committing sexual assault. Piker’s claims have added to public outrage over the Ivy League school following the lawsuit filed against it over the alleged 2024 gang rape in a campus fraternity house.
During his visit to Cornell University on Thursday, when he addressed an audience of around 450 people at Sage Chapel, Piker commented that students participating in pro-Palestinian demonstrations have been given more severe punishments than students found guilty of committing sexual crimes. In particular, the controversial statements he made during his visit have spread rapidly online.
“You got more of a penalty at Cornell University if you participated in a pro-Palestine student encampment,” Piker has claimed. “I was talking to some of the leaders of the pro-Palestine encampments. One of them got expelled for a year. They got suspended for a year.”
“They got literally worse penalties in Cornell University than half of the rapists did, or than most of the rapists did,” Piker said. “It’s (expletive) nuts.”
Same, feels like I’m taking crazy pills. He may be right, but not two months ago he was “that twitch guy zapping his dog”, and now reddit is full of his opinions and he’s a “progressive political commentator” with threads chock full of bots agreeing with him. I’d swear he’s being manufactured.
Disinformation campaign through and through. That’s exactly why they pushed that lie - to make people like you who agree with Piker’s points question him and move away from those ideas.
I don’t have a horse in this race but to me it looks like he climbed in views exactly because of that controversy, true or not. Can’t believe I’m arguing over psyops with a guy that posts in a single day as much as I ( or your avg lemming ) manage to post im a whole goddamn year.
Hasan didn’t climb in views because of that controversy, he’s been pulling 15-30k viewers at any given moment for like 6 years now. You had just never watched before and that was the entire point of that Dan Saltman manufactured campaign: to get you to hear his name in a negative light before you could discover him on your own.
