I’m old so am clueless. I tried unpairing and repairing on the TV and phone, rebooting and tried with my tablet too.

Any ideas?

When you say “pair”, do you mean with Bluetooth? I don’t think that does anything but allow it to be an audio endpoint.

If you want to control, download the Google TV app, get both devices on the same network, then use that app to control the TV.

OK can you explain the steps to me like you’re talking to your grandma? I want to make my workout video play on the telly, there isn’t a casting option so would Bluetooth work? Alternatively I’ll play my tunes on it

Sorry, let me clarify some terminology and facts to kind of unconfuse things:

“Casting” is a very specific term used for using a network to send audio or video to a device like a TV or Stereo.

Casting over Bluetooth is not a thing, but Bluetooth audio is a thing. That should help in the future to know that if you mean video, you need a network.

So first steps if you’re staying in a guest house:

        1. get on the WiFi if they provided that for you
        2. Open whatever app and see if it then shows a Cast button for you

If it doesn’t show the cast button, perhaps the TV isn’t capable. You may want to search whatever the model or brand of TV it is and find guides to using whatever casting solution they have.
