To be used for work. Gaming not a concern, might play FM at most which works on anything.

Requirements:

  • last a long long time.
  • Compatibility with phone. Afraid of Mac for this reason. Not an iPhone user. Also afraid of learning curve and office suite. My work requires a lot of those files being shared around.
  • i7
  • latest gen
  • ssd storage
  • decent ram

Very much! Well here’s some general tips:

        1. Buy FACTORY refurbished whenever you can. They should be like new, and come with a full warranty
        2. Buy something with a 2-3 manufacturer warranty
        3. Buy AMD over Intel at this point. The cost and power savings will be much better for the price.
        4. Once you find a model you might be interested in, look it up on NotebookCheck or Phoronix. Both very reliable reviewers.

        Most Reliable Brands

        • MSI
        • Framework (probably not available in your area cheap)
        • Lenovo Thinkpad: ONLY the Thinkpad, every other model line is trash
        • Dell XPS: ONLY this model

I’m not sure the sales will actually still be available in your area, but the “Black Friday” deals are coming up for North America in a few weeks. It may be worth waiting and seeing if something you like goes on sale.
