I think a good way around this is that any project submissions using AI must include draft material to show how much data was used vs generated. We will never get away from AI at this stage but we need to get to a trust but verify stage. Even if they built the whole thing with AI they should be able to show the amount of tokens used in the entire to generate it (more generally means they have spent time refining whatever it is)

We need to get away from AI=Bad and rather use AI as tools and don’t help it replace us by showing 100% generated work as your own. Me using AI to make something is going to be much more polished and refined vs your general office worker. We need proper AI classes to help show people how to use it responsibly and collaboratively so we can cut down on the amount of duplicate work being generated as if we can cut down processing power it also cuts down the pollution generated.

AI Usage should almost be like that teacher that was really good at school. Engaging you to make you better, not replacing you or brainrotting to hell.

I do think the two professions that are likely about to die however are customer service (not all, just 90% of call centre workers) and non-tool assisted programmers.

AI coding is going to be the future but instead of just big corporations doing it people should be using it for building out tools they need. AI in it’s current state is just a smart printer and I’m sure there are a lot of business ideas we haven’t even come up with yet that will make humans and AI complementary, not one to replace another.

I would rather not have AI at all, but pandora’s box is already open and if we don’t at least try and integrate it into our workflows we will be left behind.

Agreed, but they have some amazing hacks using older architectures. They do produce motherboards and other components though so it’s still surprising they are using a dell.

Aussie here, I don’t think that this is a bad move at all. The meta glasses are at a price point that makes them rarely seen in the wild, however Kmart (yes it still exists here, but different owners) has recently had a sale of $20 “recording glasses” that can easily have their recording LED turned off and with a few modifications you wouldn’t even know they had a camera.

I can understand them doing this in government facilities, as some won’t even allow you to have your phone in certain spaces.

I do think with tigher guardrails (detection of environments, like if a set of meta glasses enter a restroom or what looks like a restroom it should disable recording entirely.) it could be allowed but we really don’t need to encourage kids that secret recordings are ok.
