This is the sort of bullshit that companies intentionally put out to get back good PR. “It wasn’t us, it was the shadowy execs!”
It’s PR 101, blame nameless people that may or may not exist and you get the good will back on your side as the hatred is focused on people that either don’t care or don’t exist.
Stable Diffusion isn’t a company, but also, if you’re heavily invested in one side of the argument, controlling your opposition is the best possible outcome. You allow regular dissent because that’s irrelevant and changes nothing, but when actual controversy happens, you can kill it instantly.
The exact same thing happens all over the world all the time, it’s called controlled opposition.
