Leave PCs out of this console nonsense. On PC you can write whatever you want to whatever media you want by yourself, without kissing some Nintendo-Sony ass.

Depends on the software part. If there will be freedom of compiling\installing arbitrary software then yes. I’m sure in this case it would be full of very interesting things in no time. But if it would be “fenced” like META does with their VR headsets, then those glasses would be almost useless.
People do not hate glasses. All that hatred exists only in small hysteria bubble. Put a $100 price on them and in a few days half of people would use them.
Hates? No. Not even near. Just cannot afford.

Programming per se haven’t any drastic changes in the last 50 years. I suppose the C language was the last important change in the way of how programming was done.

You asked “how”, not “where”.
So your task is just finding a tracker you can trust enough. There are many ones with rather serious moderation where catching some “virus” is an extremely rare event.
