so? does the quality of my lock change whether or not I should be allowed to have it?
I’m talking about legally, and as much as I don’t like trump we are not in a fascist country (yet).
fair enough, padlock was the wrong type of lock for the analogy. how about a vault door? sure that may not be as common, but you don’t have to support a government master key for those either.
Bolt cutters are not a key, they are a method of bypassing the lock. they still need a warrant to do that, which is the point.
@[email protected] I’ve been liking floorp and zen. used floorp for a while but i’m giving zen a real try for the first time in a while rn and I think it’s my favorite implementation of vertical tabs.
There is no ‘lawful access’ without a warrant or my permission. there aren’t laws saying padlocks need to support a government master key, and encryption is just a digital lock.
when the obvious troll is obvious
intelligence has nothing to do with empathy or humility, it is a measure of knowledge and problem-solving. lying about the contents of posts and pretending you are justified is not intelligent, even if you add a quote.
it isn’t more accurate though, you are lying about where the funding came from. congress only approved the budget for the government, they didn’t have a say in who got the money that was being handed out. there is a single right answer and it is to not change the titles of news articles to suit your own opinions. if you want to present your opinion, you do it by making your own post. posting a news article is for sharing the article, not for lying about it’s contents to suit the story you want to tell.
I swear this community is as bad as a flat earth one when the government gets brought up. why change the title from the original to imply that congress (other than deciding the federal budget) had anything to do with it? That is at best irresponsible and misleading and at worst actively malicious. Yes government entities do sketchy things, but that does not mean something can’t be trusted because a government entity interacted with it.
look up what fascist means dumbass, it’s more than just someone you disagree with.
probably either a network issue or content filter (bc Nazi salute).
to my knowledge the closest they’ve gotten is failing tests
it should be considered harassment to advertise like this
They are stealing data that can be (and is, often) used to track you across the entire internet. many social media platforms (again, especially tiktok) use this data to straight up manipulate people into spending more time on their platform and having views that align with the interests of the company. this is especially bad if the interests of the company are really the interests of an authoritarian government that is blatantly hostile to other countries unprovoked.
Not Chinese bad, Chinese government bad. because the Chinese government has so much control, Chinese companies can’t be trusted. yes, stolen data is bad. I know that data is being stolen anyway, but tiktok has historically been very bad about it. however, i was reffering to them moving from one shitty Chinese platform to another even more shitty and even more Chinese (as in controlled more by the Chinese government) one, when there are platforms that are from places that do not have an authoritarian government able to control any company if they so choose. of course something like instagram (reels) or youtube shorts isn’t much better in terms of data theft, but who has the data does matter no matter how hard you’re coping.
fucking idiots
that’s fucked up
yeah, which is why we need to make sure that doesn’t happen to other locks (and make the TSA start doing security instead of security theater).
