It’s an effective combination.

A lot of the AUR is just build scripts for GitHub repos …

I’m in a McDonald’s about twice a year usually because it’s the only option on a longer road trip.
Most of them have at most 1 cashier ( sometimes 0) and have the stand up tablet kiosks for ordering.
The drive through was primarily handled by a person with a head set who was also sometimes doing other things but I know a lot of fast food chains were farming that task out to call centers in cheaper locals, not sure about McD’s since I have not been through I drive through in a long long time.

In an ideal world it would free up Worker to better focus on their tasks.
It’s not that, but you know, in an ideal world…

I’m no financial wiz but the Wikipedia says they had half a billion in income on 2.2 billion revenue.

A lot of people working in finance were not alive when that movie was taking place and like the movie Wall Street the ones who watched it learned all the wrong lessons.
I’m also a kagi user and I think the service they provide is good.
I would say that paying for a service cannot always save you. Any public company cannot deny 2 revenue streams and it doesn’t take long before they will take your money and sell your data.
You can pay Google for YouTube but they still harvest your data.

I know the media frames this poorly and someone at Microsoft wasn’t smart enough to dance around the subject but everyone wants their products to be addictive. The sugar industry, petrochemicals, beauty etc etc. They all want this.

The main issue as usual is US hegemony (or what’s left of it) has a way of fucking up the rest of the world. When that bubble pops it’s going to cause a whole bunch of industries trouble.

The Stasi would be envious of the modern Chinese states ability to monitor it’s population.
The US is a bit late to the party but they’re working hard to catch up.

While that is definitely a risk one Claude commit in what might have been a larger MR doesn’t really tell you much.
It could have been a single item in a long list the agent just put it in its own commit.

OSS maintenance is a thankless job for the most part and the reaction in this thread proves the point.

I mean it makes total sense the minute you think about it at all.
It’s the same with laws.
It’s very hard to get the electorate united to oppose something but if they manage to unite and oppose a bill the lobbyists are back at work on Monday pushing it by a different name.
I just don’t think her comics are very funny. She isn’t really wrong but she is preaching to the choir a bit most of the time. That’s why her comics get up voted so much.
That said half the comments in any pizza cake thread is people complaining about pizza cake so I don’t really engage with them that much.
I mean the reality is the major problem is that they already have all that data. This is just making you aware of the fact.
I remember probably 12 or 15 years ago my phone popped up a notification informing I’d last been at a restaurant I was in a year prior and would I review / update the info about it…
That’s when I went and disabled location tracking (for whatever that’s worth)
The plate it probably got correct but from the wrong car and gave the correct tire size for the basic tires but you have the aluminum rims.

People are fickle and difficult to control. If you can extract the knowledge from the meat sack so much the better.

This type of thing is why you never 'login with Google, Meta, Apple ’ whatever.
If they decide they don’t like you for whatever reason you end up locked out of every account, event the ones that are not explicitly Google.
It doesn’t really matter honestly. In order to be immune to this type of thing you have to either be off social media or constantly thinking critically. It’s impossible to think critically all the time so the one way too win is by not playing.
Here I am telling you this while on social media…
