Comms must be infrequent bc my domain sink doesn’t log anything like that from my tv when I’ve checked

DreamButt@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Why make it complicated?English1·22 days agoI’m talking about quantity not the popularity of a given language. There are certainly a number of popular languages that follow that convention
DreamButt@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Why make it complicated?English2·23 days agooh for sure, but I think that’s the rarer case for language implementions. Having a consistent structure with alternative keywords in static positions is just easier to develop an AST for. Personally my favorite language doesn’t even allow for const values (except by convention) so it’s really just a matter of preference
DreamButt@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Why make it complicated?English24·23 days agoBecause sometimes that
let
can be replaced by other things likeconst
. Which can be managed statically by the machine and not by my (imperfect) ability to know if it’s mutated or not

I stopped using AI assistance tools for my work bc I noticed I’d stopped thinking about what I was doing
Alternatively:

DreamButt@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•I use Zip Bombs to Protect my ServerEnglish1·2 months agoSo I’m not an expert but my understanding is the flow is roughly:
- Available memory gets low
- Compress based on LRU rules
- Use swap
- OOM
So it’s more meant to be preventative afaik
DreamButt@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•I use Zip Bombs to Protect my ServerEnglish4·2 months agoNo, but that’s an interesting question. Ultimately it probably comes down to hardware specs. Or depending on the particular bot and it’s env the spec of the container it’s running in
Even with macos’s style of compressing inactive memory pages you’ll still have a hard cap that can be reached with the same technique (just with a larger uncompressed file)
Who cares about the city? The things that actually matter:
- specs
- Quality of the chip
Are these things worth $400? Hell no. But I still don’t think this is a good comparison.

GPT (at least) has gotten really good at de-escalation and providing (mostly) factual responses when you get irate

The Cupertino tech giant is not an advertising company, however. Chatterjee notes that Apple’s decision to only show a single Search Ad in its App Store could limit the revenue opportunity relative to his prior expectations.

Honestly I always forget. I’ve never really participated so headlines like this just seems like bad takes to me lol
GitHub has slowly become an advertising platform for repos more than anything. I miss what it was just a couple of years ago. It did exactly what you needed when you needed it. Now it’s just so bloated
I mean we can. But will anyone?
