I had problems with the update on a previous pihole install already up and running with unbound and cloudflared. Did the v6 update as soon as it dropped just for some excitement. During install I did not disable lighttdp or remove it. When I started having failures to access the web portal it had to do with lighttpd running, stopping and disabling it with systemctl fixed most of my problems.

Whitelisting facebook was real easy. Just by checking the query log you can identify what to whitelist and single click on a button will fix it.

At this point the ads are winning because its getting much harder to stop them. A well tuned pihole is great for browsing and it is really noticeable when Im away from home. It has to be tuned, blocklists are great but you will definitely be managing the lists yourself. It is SO EASY to do, it is the most user-friendly open-source network tool I have ever used! Sleep on this to your own peril

Me too… piHole does not do this unfortunately, especially on anything that isnt a pc.

I stand by solidigm as a company that will provide you with parts that work and a very good warranty. Youll pay a premium but with way less worry that your drive will fail.

I think they mean like a flow chart or another visual aid to show data changes and information flow through a program. Ive never seen anything like what they are asking for either in documentation, only in code meetings or developer charts.

Sorry, you wouldnt and didnt mean to imply that. I was suggesting that port forwarding is a fairly easy task and if one is confident in their ability to do that, than they should be able to complete a PiHole install.

PiHole runs great on older Raspberry Pi’s(I am still using a pi3). Older models are still very easy to get and a readily available from the approved resellers list.

I felt the same way about youtube, streaming, shopping and general browsing: too many ads. Ruins the content. I set up a pi-hole as an experiment to see if it would do what it said and what others said about it. Manage your expectations here. Pi-hole works well for blocking a lot of static information and ads in your browser and a lot of apps on iOS and Android. It does not block video ads on Youtube or Hulu, it does not block ads for Roku or Firestick or Smart TV apps for example, it just does not work because of the technical limitations of how the PiHole software is designed. Using a regular PC with adblock browser extension installed as well gets rid of 99% of ads including video ads from adcdns. PiHole is incredibly easy to setup and install, the pay off in quality of life is enormous. I cannot recommend it more to someone that has a little networking knowledge base. If you can figure out how to port forward and run a handful of command lines you can complete a pihole setup in an hour.
