Aren’t most revolvers six-chambered, not five?
It’s about the fact that teenagers have underdeveloped reasoning skills and deserve some leniency while they develop their sense of right from wrong. As well just, if your goal is there being a net reduction of nazis in society, then imprisoning a teenager for throwing the salute is probably not going to achieve that.
I think they were maybe speaking to the peer-to-peer “hosting” part of peertube. If not enough people are contributing to bandwidth, then more falls back to the server, increasing the cost to run it.
Others have said the same, but why do you believe these things are mutually exclusive? Like yes, everyone has a computer in their pocket, but why does that prevent them from having a desktop, or a laptop, or a tablet? There are 1.75 Billion PC gamers as of 2020, though that includes laptop (and assumedly Steam Deck and associated handheld) users as well. Desktops are still incredibly common and popular computing devices, they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Let alone that laptops are incredibly common too. I genuinely don’t know anyone in my circles that doesn’t have a laptop, a desktop, or both.
What are you trying to say with this?
With Valve moving SteamOS and the Steam Deck’s Game Mode UI to support other handhelds like the Legion Go S, and maybe even Desktop at some point, it makes sense why they would be changing this. (emphasis mine)
Isn’t this what Big Picture Mode already is?
No, they’re still independent with majority of shares owned by their founders.
I haven’t, no.
Google started blocking them in some way. Even my self-hosted, entirely local-access only instance stopped working.
You seem to have a lot of praise for a distro you’ve (rightfully) called out having several red flags?
Bazzite is a collection of packages and default settings, as is SteamOS. My point is that a cross-platform Gamemode replacement could be used by better already established distros like Bazzite.
I mean, I’m all here for a cross-platform Gamemode replacement, but that could be a package, rather than needing to be a whole distro.
Edit: and I meant to add, I’d love to see someone like Lutris develop it.
What makes it more tailored than Bazzite? That includes Lutris, which you can use to install games from GOG, Itch and Epic Game Store, as well as add them to Steam for Gamemode with just one click.
Counterpoint, back before the internet started becoming full of AI slop, it was easy to find those a solutions by searching.
I have seen that review, I really wonder if there’s issues there with the Z2 Go chip not being properly integrated into Bazzite/the Linux kernel yet.
Steam deck OLED is actually more powerful than the legion go S from what I’ve seen online so far
I strongly doubt that considering the head-to-head specs of the Z2 Go vs the Sephiroth APU. They’re both 4c/8t but the Z2 has significantly faster base clock and turbo on both the CPU & GPU, as well as more compute & shader units, and hardware raytracing.
The Z1 Extreme in the original Legion Go also dominates over the Deck with even higher clocks, and an 8c/16t CPU. Plus with Bazzite you get a SteamOS-like experience.
However you’re 100% right about the fact that Valve don’t necessarily care about the Deck making money. They made it to create a market segment that makes them more profits on Steam, and to encourage the push towards Linux gaming due to their long-term cold war with Microsoft. What I’d actually love to see them do is a Steam Deck Pro with the Z2 Extreme and a 1440p display. Maybe with a bottom USB-C port, a proper dock and a revamped Steam Controller.
A bunch of people were trying to make that argument to explain Hellwig’s disagreement, but it was never the case. His argument amounted to “you can’t make create unified code to reference mine, you must have each driver maintain its own independent calls to my code”.
Here’s the thing though, is Marcan got called out (rightfully) for his shit by Linus, but Linus could have called out Hellwig in the same email. The lack of that, to my reading, felt like implicit support of Hellwig’s position to me, and I can see why Marcan would have felt the same way.
In saying that, it would also be fair for Linus to not “give in to the pressure” of Marcan’s actions on social media and basically given him what he wanted.
The fact that a 16yo has worse reasoning skills than an adult is fairly well researched. I wouldn’t call them a child though. But as a society we decided long ago that an <18yo isn’t held to the same standard of criminal liability as someone 18 or older. I don’t really know that I’ve seen what you’re referencing with 25 year olds being called kids. I just think there are too many folks in this thread that seem to think a high school student should go to prison for something like this.
