Uuuuh… being a web dev in those days… You essentially first built support for proper browsers, then it was time to make things look and work as they should (or close to it) in IE.
Everyone should’ve chipped in with a dollar and you’d have your own country! /s
We’re probably witnessing the future of US democracy right there. Every question, or at least the ones where they pretend public opinion matters, to be settled by a poll on shitter.
Le Chat is a good name. It’s also the name of, among other things, I’m sure, a Belgian comic strip.
Yeah, 480 Mbit/s really felt lightning fast at the time, especially considering where we came from with USB 1.0.
… with an accuracy of tens of miles
Probably not an alternative if you need walking directions to the coffee shop, then.
Well, I meant to be a little funny, but I should’ve remembered that the internet will always hurry to dish out a douchebag label rather than thinking someone had harmless intentions/giving benefits to doubt.
There seem to be a lot of runways out there with walls, buildings and friggin’ ravines at the end.
I get that it can’t always be easy to find suitable land that can cater to long, flat runoff areas, but it certainly feels like a calculated risk to skip it, given how (relatively) frequent overruns are.
Not as far as impacting walls go, but a working landing gear probably would have been beneficial in getting the plane stopped before hitting the wall.
Disclaimer: I haven’t read up on this and don’t know if the landing gear wasn’t extracted due to malfunction or some other reason.
Surprisingly, I’m not shocked at all. Heck, I’m not even surprised I’m not shocked.
Yeah, my blowhole does that, too.
The people responsible for that one are rich, and they can do no wrong.
Next up, ULTRAVIRAL.
I keep forgetting how nasty they look… I’m glad I don’t have to see these on European roads. Not yet, at least.
It’s not really a lot of hoops to jump through, and this seems to be standard practice by DHL, UPS, FedEx and others, over here.
I actually appreciate getting the options on delivery day. E.g. I usually get to choose what collection point they leave the package at (so I can pick a spot I pass by going home from work or whatever), or if I want them to come back the next day, or have it dropped off at my office (not always an option, kinda seems to depend on how stressful a day the driver is having). I certainly prefer it to risk having the package stolen, then reporting, waiting for a new delivery…
Of course, if the package is large, heavy or otherwise unwieldy it might be a pain not having it delivered directly to the door, but if I’m expecting such a thing I try to be home to accept delivery.
TIL I learned of porter buddy, thanks.
Yeah, same up here in Norway. If I’m not home they will offer to leave the package at a collection point, or drop it off at my place of work. As far as I know, they’re not allowed to just leave it at my door step and hope for the best.
A friend of mine has a condition that can easily cause him to pass out from seeing blood, or indeed picturing blood in his mind. I remember us listening to a guy talking about a surgery he had recently gone through, one that involved fixing an artery, et voila, my friend suddenly passed out.
My only point being that some people can be very sensitive, and my buddy would’ve no doubt spent a performance like this drifting in and out of consciousness.
He’s looking more and more like Kim Jong Un by the day…
