There is no backdoor in Apple’s encryption. That’s the reason the US and UK governments have prosecuted Apple repeatedly. They can obtain iCloud data with a warrant, but are repeatedly pressing for real-time surveillance. The UK banned encryption without a backdoor, so Apple turned off encryption rather than compromising their standard.

The last time Democrats had the same majority in congress that Republicans have now was the 111th Congress. It was considered the most productive Congress since the 89th, which was also a Democratic majority.

The slim majorities that Democrats have had since have been packed full of centrists due to the horrifically low congressional primary attendance (<15%) for the last few decades. We need to stop allowing retirees to fill our ballots with conservatives and centrists, and vote in the progressives that will actively bring about change.

True. It’s long overdue regardless. We are still using the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA). Obama pushed for immigration reform, but all Congress was able to pass with a weak majority was DACA in 2012.

Absolutely. The solution is comprehensive immigration reform. Until Congress passes it, we will continue to deport people due to our overcomplicated and flawed system.

It’s also important to note that more immigrants cross the border under Democratic presidents, and most deportations under those presidents are people caught at the border, versus the rounding up and deporting of working, tax-paying immigrants who have been here for years.

I highly doubt 85% of registered voters miss the election because of scheduling conflicts. You can sign up for mail-in ballots if you have an irregular schedule. Most people vote once every four years, if at all. We should be voting twice every two years for federal elections alone.
