Yeah, it doesn’t work a lot of the time. It also let me log in but says I don’t subscribe to any communities (which is wrong) and doesn’t show many any communities when I use search.

I have way more bugs on Memmy. I can’t even reply to most comments in that app for some reason. Wefwef can be a little finicky but smoother overall for me.
I figure you’d audit it by examining the results, and if bias isn’t detectable in the results
I was just asking for more info on how you’d examine the results for bias since it would need to be pretty extreme like the example you gave to be identifiable as something worth investigating.
All good if you don’t have a more specific answer, I was just curious what your personal thoughts were here.
Right, that’s why I was trying to ask you for your opinion on what the threshold for “investigation worthy” results
That would be a pretty extreme bias to have, so yeah that would make sense. If it’s not so drastic it might be harder to spot by just looking at the results.
What would unbiased results look like?
Definitely not. It’s what’s known as a “dark pattern” in the industry.
Oof, you’re talking to the wrong guy. I’m literally a user experience designer. Not even joking.
User interface just means the styling of the website. The colors, button styles, typography, line-spacing, imagery, etc. These guys usually build out pattern libraries or design systems for the UX guys and developers to work with.
User experience design is much more broad, hard to give a general definition. Basically try design “architect” I suppose, that creates blueprints based on data extrapolated through analytics and research.
Sometimes they go as far as to build out prototypes and deliverables for developers using the pattern library created by the UI designers.
This might be the only actual old person trait in this thread (OP included). The rest is basically just “I don’t want to be fucked over.”
Absolutely. We need a prison reform.
Not to nitpick but not ALL prisons in the US are for-profit. They should be illegal though.
Fun fact - other countries that have for-profit prisons include Australia, Canada, France, the UK, Israel, South Korea, and New Zealand.
This won’t do much since most of these prisons operate under state jurisdiction, but in 2021, President Joe Biden issued an executive order to stop the United States Department of Justice from renewing further contracts with private prisons.
Looks similar to Confluence but more of a pain to get set up.
Virtually all electric cars go 0-60 in under 6 seconds, with most around 4 seconds.
But even so, I didn’t dispute the performance of the Tesla in terms of driving power, just commenting on the poor build quality and how some people may exclude it from being considered high end because of that.
Depends on if you define “high end.” Most people consider the build quality as a major factor in what makes a car “high end.” Tesla’s are notorious for some of the worst, if not THE worst build quality in the industry. The materials are cheap in quality and QA is seemingly non-existent, with cars frequently being shipped that are duds or begin to literally fall apart (like steering wheels coming off mid drive) extremely quickly.
I’ve heard the tires are what really cost money because the car is so heavy it wears them out really fast.
Can you share the lemmy communities?
I never really used twitter but the few accounts I’ve seen that follow the war were also very pro-Ukraine. What is a good source for an accurate picture of what’s happening (I’m not looking for pro-Russian, either, fuck Russia)?
Yeah that makes sense. I have no problem using wefwef for the time being until these other apps iron the kinks out.
