I’m hesitant to set up backups because it’s going to be a lot of data.

My partner and I have founded a company that uses custom AI models trained on research to (partially) automate the process of peer review and replication. We can identify mistakes and some types of fraud in research to aid reviewers as well as extract methods and equations from papers and automatically verify findings. If you know anything about the state of research right now, those are some incredibly large benefits.

Yeah, but it would take a few years, I imagine. I’m not really trying to make points that have long term good outcomes, but ones that a politician could make to justify the purchase. I think we’re all aware that our elected officials don’t give a shit about the long term outcomes.

It might be more cost effective to just buy Mexico.

1. New, much shorter border with Guatemala, ripe for wall building, if that’s your jam.
2. No more worries about mexicans coming over the border to be in the US.
3. Additional domestic manufacturing, including ~30% rise in cars made in the US.
4. US police and national guard can act directly against gangs in Mexico state.
5. Ideally, infrastructure and policing investments lead to decline in northern migration, or equal and opposite migration south.

Seems doable, assuming they would sell, and might cost less than a war.

I used to have a power shell script that a coworker gave me that would uninstall a huge number of services and apps on windows, change a bunch of config settings etc.

I’ve always wished there were a way to roll out a stripped windows release as an open source project without getting sued.

I didn’t get the impression that those hoops were artificial. They aren’t providing support for it, but that’s different from actively obstructing people.

I think generally when a tool says that it’s compiling JavaScript into a binary, it’s just packaging it with a lightweight browser basically. Python has kind of the same thing - they have compilers that build executables, but really they’re just packaging a Python interpreter with your script.

That’s not how JavaScript works. You have to run it with node.js or in a browser to get it to do stuff. Are you asking how to bundle JavaScript?

Sweet, we need more non-English programming languages. I’m surprised that existing programming languages haven’t been translated yet.
