Ah yes, the famously communist Russian Federation. The RF is nakedly an imperial fascist regime that doesn’t even have communist window dressing, it boggles the mind that self-proclaimed communists and anti-imperialists support them.

there may also be the possibility of the dev simply not wanting to define his views publicly out of the blue, because regardless of stance, you will make enemies, potentially hindering the projects development or facing personal repercussions.
It should be allowed for someone to not out themselves as either transphobic or an ally. If the person does have issues with pronouns, it’s better if they simply keep to themselves instead of loudly proclaiming it. The other way around it’s the same - even if someone is pro trans, it might not be suitable for them to openly speak about it - it might even put them in danger.
I agree with you that this is often a dog whistle, but it might also be a poor choice of wording.
Bluesky will never be able to properly decentralize, since the costs are prohibitive and cannot be afforded by normal users. The shared heap concept used is currently somewhere around 10-15 TB storage, which is already pretty expensive to host for a single person, and that’s only the STORAGE for a single host NOW - no redundancy, no backups, no traffic and no worldwide infrastructure to keep the response time down. That’s a huge difference to a Mastodon instance, which can be run from a pretty cheap setup and is afforable for most people.
Also, the way Bluesky implements how user identities are handled makes account migration more a theoretical possibility than a believable “decentralization”. Theoretically Bluesky gives a credible exit strategy, where the shared heap can be copied by another organisation in case of loss of user trust or bankruptcy of the company and everyone can just switch over and carry on without losing a single post, but there are a lot of big if’s in that theory.
Here’s the source, from Christine Lemmer-Webber who worked on ActivityPub: https://dustycloud.org/blog/how-decentralized-is-bluesky/
One thing i agree on with you is that at most of the women i had sex with were pretty bad at verbalizing what they want in bed, regardless of when they are asked about it, and that’s coming from an european where sex stuff is a lot less taboo to talk about than in the states. This is one thing that gets better with age, tho - older women seem to be much more vocal about their needs, so i would say experience is the key factor here. given how sexually repressive the US are especially towards women, it’s something that only social reform can fix, and currently the US are making steps backwards instead of forwards in that regard.
Body shaming to hurt someone during a breakup is not ok and a character flaw; breakups hurt enough as it is without stuff like that. I’m happy i haven’t experienced that yet; all my relationships so far have ended amicably, even if tears where involved on both sides - it just didn’t work out anymore. There would probably be no issue if i met any of my previous partners again.
I do not agree that all sex is transactional. I know it isn’t for me, i can be perfectly content with giving pleasure without receiving anything in return, and i believe most sex is cooperative, working together towards fullfillment of both parties. That includes a transaction, if you really want to be pedantic about it, but the transaction is pretty low-key.
I know from my netherlands visits (from locals, personally i’m not into sex workers) that the bouncers in the Amsterdam redlight district don’t fuck around when one of the girls have any issue with a client, so they tend to behave themselves.
you know, being less antagonistic and hostile would probably help in not getting banned.
https://t.lemmy.dbzer0.com/u/[email protected] is a masterclass in how not to behave if you wanna keep posting with your account.
i switched to lemmy after seeing the crackdown after the blackouts where they just repo’ed subreddits that didn’t stand down - it was clear then that internal forces would not be able to change a thing over there. i couldn’t support a site that was doing shit like this. (It’s the reason i keep pestering my wife to leave facebook and instagram after zucks kneefall for trump, and switch to pixelfed and bluesky instead; lemmy wouldn’t be a good place for her, but i can see her enjoying pixelfed a lot)
OT: You reminded me that i never watched seaquest more than a few episodes and i will have to do that now. does it still hold up for someone who loved TNG and Voyager?
you might wanna take a look at https://everynoise.com/ and the side projects under https://everynoise.com/nrbg.html and https://everynoise.com/curio.html - it’s from an ex-spotify employee. he also explains why the spotify-genre search has gone to shit - they replaced the human-curated genres with ML-learning based genres, which isn’t great.
sounds like [email protected] would be a good place for you rn ;-)
Well, my system language is not English, which might be a contributing factor. I assumed it would be the same in English, TIL.
for months, every time i used google assistant to set a timer, and every few days without asking, i got push messages to use gemini instead of assistant on my phone. there is no way to disable those messages - they only go away if you have at least once activated gemini. btw, assistant functions like the timer DO NOT WORK if you use gemini; it’s really great service to push your costumers to install a feature to take away a feature that is used daily.
those ai16z guys do want to create an Marc AIndreessen - an AI bot fed with as much stuff that Andreessen writes and says as possible; this bot will be able to invest in crypto autonomously and their target is to have this bot a better financial outcome than Andreessen themselves, if i understand the summaries correctly.
I went through most of the linked documentation, and the only thing that i was able to find was under https://elizaos.github.io/eliza/docs/advanced/eliza-in-tee/ in the docker-compose.yaml

which tracks with elons shitty type of humor. in the screenshot “Click on the Logs tab to view the agent logs” there is a timestamp: 2024-12-07, which, if it uses american style YYYY-DD-MM, would give credence to the statement that elon had earlier access to the ELIZA Agent.
I didn’t find anything else, but i must admit that i am tired as hell and might have
edit: fixed my date stuff and i might have missed something lol
Brainrotten daddy has forgotten that there are no more votes to be held, smh my head
For everyone who doesn’t want to read the links: important to note is that had the french activist accessed his protonmail account using any vpn (including proton) or the protonmail .onion site, they would have had nothing useful to report. also, it looks like they only logged the IP after being ordered to monitor access to the mailbox.
It also seems that they were quite frustrated that they couldn’t resist in this case, mentioning the inappropate usage of anti-terror laws against what in reality were squatters (which in turn compelled the swiss judges to grant the monitoring).
I’m austrian, and i have seen better nazi salutes by drunk edgy teenagers in the 90s. Are you americans in here sure he actually knows how a nazi salute should look like or do all of the Y’all Quaeda first grip their steroid induced mantits before they half-dab?
was gonna say, no such guide can be considered complete without fmhy; i wouldn’t send them to repackers, since every pirate desires different types of treasure (even for games it depends on the system, someone might look for the games he played on the psx in his youth)
Thats actually pretty helpful, thanks!
i love your posts sooo much, please do not ever stop posting!
