if you sniff a jug of chlorine, sure you’ll smell it but diluted in a pool to 3-5ppm you shouldn’t be able to smell it unless it’s reacting with contaminants, not necessarily urine, but not not necessarily urine. If it has a strong odor from far away either the pool has way more than say 10 ppm chlorine or is reacting with stuff or both. The good news is the chlorine is doing its job and you’re probably fine. probably.
I find it a bit ironic that the thing that made it easier to ditch windows completely was o365 web apps, they’re actually decent if you have to use them. Thanks microsoft.
I think the just use linux voices are getting louder because every day more things just work out of the box, it may not quite be there for everyone yet but it’s getting better every day.
yeah, it’s frustrating when they’re smug about it but I’d argue that suggesting an alternative where this issue doesn’t happen is helpful advice even if you don’t agree with it. I do agree that ‘just switch to linux’ is a gross oversimplification as there will be some growing pains and there are a few hurdles that may at present be unsurmountable. I also find it amusing that you present digging up registry hacks and fighting for control over your system for the rest of time to be easier than a modern linux installer that takes about 5 minutes to click through the gui with no command line knowledge needed. I guess the point is that you should use whatever you’re comfortable with, but if you haven’t tried linux in a while you might find it to be less of a fight than windows is becoming.
You can get paid way more for plasma, the places where I live take hours though so it may not be worth it. I just donate whole blood and Oneblood gives me gift cards and swag, the double walled water bottles last time were surprisingly good quality, and probably lined with pfas.
Many places will give you gift cards, donating plasma also has the effect of reducing pfas in your blood (allegedly) and you get real money.
Not to downplay that this is terrible but you should know there have been studdies that show you can reduce the amount of forever chemicals in your blood by donating blood regularly, among other health benefits like getting paid for it.
Yeah, i remember it being pretty bad and fighting with my boss at the time because they were all in with lenovo. Even after I showed them the articles about the malware they wanted us to push out lenovo’s bloat on all machines (like the stupid battery monitor) because they liked how it looked better. I got a new job shortly after.

Back in 2015 or so Lenovo was pre-installing superfish spyware on some systems. Whether this was an accident or intentional is up for interpretation. Whether 8 years is enough to earn back trust is up to you. Personally I re-image anything that’s mine because I don’t need the vendor’s bloat that just does the same things windows already does. I don’t really use windows much anyway these days for my personal machines but I’m probably not going to buy anything from Lenovo any time soon.
I think the idea is to filter it out (which is also not easy) but then this gives you a way to destroy the concentrated pfas left behind. Because otherwise what are you supposed to do with the material you have filtered out? It’d be cool if regulations required the cost of destroying pfas be added to the sale of pfas which might help manufacturers decide that they don’t need to add pfas to disposable things like paper plates after all.
