Despite the current wealth inequality a good number of people are still living decently enough.
I’m waiting to see what happens when Trump starts putting his taxes in place. When people are miserable enough they’ll take to the streets and protest. If we reach a breaking point where living conditions completely break down and there still aren’t protests then it may as well be over for democracy.
We tried. They ignore the vast majority of feedback given to them.
The Mastodon user experience really needed to be simplified greatly to attract Twitter users, because what’s a platform without other users on it to connect to? At this point I feel as if they may have blown their chance.
I’ve heard people are starting to do this on TikTok as well. I think it says more about us a civilization than anything. This is a clear scarcity/enshittification issue. Everyone wants good value and good quality products. Unfortunately a lot of mom/pop shops that produce those products don’t want to expand and if they do end up franchised capitalism’s ever growing desire for increased gains ensures that the franchised products only become worse over time.
It’s a clear shame to see capitalism pitting people against each other in this fashion.
I stand by my opinion that learning systems training on copyrighted materials isn’t the problem, it’s companies super eager to replace human workers with automation (or replace skilled workers with cheaper, unskilled workers).
I mean it’s the heart of the issue.
OpenAI isn’t even the big issue regarding this. It’s other companies that are developing and training specialized LLMs on their own employees. These companies have the capital to take the loss on the project because in their eyes it’ll eventually turn into a gain as long as they get it right eventually.
GPT and OpenAI is just a minor distraction in regards to what is being cooked up behind the scenes, but I still wouldn’t give them a free pass for that either.
Even if AI was absolutely impeccable it will always feel better to use products that involve real human beings.

I think it’s for the better that companies are having these blunders though. It’ll generate some amount of pushback and keep AI from taking over workplaces.
I see. I simply ask because the platform has changed a lot if you used it a little over a decade ago and I know some people who never got over the transition.
Absolutely understandable that you don’t want to spend time looking for anything that might catch your interest though.
Its literally the lowest form of entertainment and its not worth a single moment of ad watching.

I think the platform has come a long ways when it comes to content. Sure, if you’re just watching gaming content I’d say you’d be disappointed. It’s been like that for a decade now at least. There’s a lot of decent content on there though with a lot of it even being somewhat educational.
If this was law, and companies had to divulge how there stuff worked and was assembled, as well as sell parts, things would last longer.
I’m all for it but I think you’re being a bit too optimistic. If we had the right to repair then the prices of repair kits and materials is going to go up most likely. I can think of a few other ways they can make that system obnoxious too.
It’s like everything else. Yeah, the general systems in place could be greatly improved but ultimately the majority of the issues lie with the people at the top who refuse to let us have good things. No matter what laws are passed they will find a way to profit at any cost. The shareholders behind massive corporations are the first priority because no solution we create will work as efficiently as it can unless they are out of the picture.

Plus big tech companies are scared to lose out to each other, so they’ll buy into it even as a known risk.
Not what I’m pointing out. The youngest Millennials are almost all 30. You still have Gen Z that are 12 if I’m not mistaken.
Older Gen Z are, but not all of them are at that point yet. It’s easier to make blanket statements regarding Millennials since you still have half of Gen Z in their teen years.
Millennials are the youngest generation that’s left their college years behind, outside of people attending at later points in their lives, so they make the best example in this case.
You could be Gen Z and working a decent job without a degree, or just working a minimum wage job, but discussing the latest generations batch of university graduates struggling to keep up with cost of living makes more of a statement.
I was really hoping that with the onset of AI people would be more skeptical of content they see online.
This was one of the reasons. I don’t think there’s anything we can do to prevent people from acting like this, but what we can do as a society is adjust to it so that it’s not as harmful. I’m still hoping that the eventual onset of it becoming easily accessible and useable will help people to look at all content much more closely.

The numbers were already up there, but I imagine YouTube’s recent campaign only drove them higher. More people than before are now aware that adblockers exist and they love using them.
This. It sounds great, but realistically companies will just control the supply of repair materials and scalp us that way instead.
You could easily. We have resources such as LexusNexus or Westlaw which your firm should be paying for. Even searching on Google Scholar should be enough to verify. Stay away from Casetext though, it’s new and mostly AI. LN and WL also have AI integration but it’s not forced, you’re still capable of doing your own research.
I’ve been telling people this for a while, but everyone needs to treat AI like how we used to treat the wiki. It’s a good secondary source that can be used to find other more reliable sources, but it should never be used as your single standalone source.
I’m not going to sugarcoat it, AI is being forced everywhere you look and it is getting a bit difficult to get away from it, but it hasn’t taken over everything to the point where there is no longer any personal responsibility. People need to have some common sense and double check everything as they’ve been taught to do even before AI.
