  • I don’t know if you “could” be “anti tech” back then, sure they destroyed the latest invention (those automated sewing machines) but as far as I have understood it was more a “we have this, we want to continue earning money with it” and less against progress.

That have changed of course, and today Luddite is synonym to being against new technology.

Which, in my opinion, isn’t much better. It feels like those conservatives (not the usa ones) who just not want to adapt for any reason.

  • You’re completely correct IMO, I was mostly blurbing about an event similar to AI. Back then you could finish a painting elsewhere thanks to a snapped photo, today people can prompt up a specific scene and train off of that one. IMO it’s just tools, but you’re right, some people believe they are artists just because they “prompt” up a hashed copy of the masters.

  • Yeah like hyper realism. Just print it bro (I don’t like hyper realism, there is no creative part in it IMO).

There were lots of similar discussions when the camera was invented, turns out it did take the job of soullessly copying things in paint away, but got used as a tool by artists.

There is no art in AI and will never be, but as it gets better it will be used as another tool for learning etc I guess.

  • A computer cannot make a rational decision?

It’s literally the only thing it does.

You’re throwing around a lot of assumptions IMO. One seems to be that intelligent is some sort of special human-only thing, like friendship or IDK. It is of course not. Neither is it human, conscious or has feelings of course.

Also, you can learn a lot from AI, like you can learn a lot from the internet (PCs hooked together, nothing more) with the difference the AI nowadays emulates a human to a certain degree.

But you should work on your anger issues dude no need to getting riled up like that, not a good way to start the weekend IMO.

    Well cheers anyways!
