Technology@lemmy.world•Federal Bill Would Bring OS-Level Age Verification to the Entire U.S.English
1·1 month agoI’m arguing with a local rep who passed a bill in my state for age verification. Only one that’d respond to me. Also signs bills to support Israel.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Soon, we will all be called "boomers" because we use internet search and not slopbots
4·1 month agoUnder 35 club here but pushing 30. Grew up in an odd period I feel like. I feel I grew up when everything was transitioning. I remember VHS as well as seeing smart phones become common.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Steam is adding support to show estimated FPS for your hardware before buying a game
2·2 months agoI’m happy you can appreciate frames that low. My fiance makes fun of me cuz I stress about anything below 60 lol granted my current PC doesn’t have these issues. Plus I used to game on laptops so I’m perfectly content with lower graphics for smooth frame rate.
Man I got Google accounts I can’t even log into cuz I never saved my passwords when I was younger
Didn’t know you could give birth to millennials these days!

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Reminder [USA]: The fight against age verification is still on!
14·2 months agoAt the very least you can have your conscience eased that you didn’t simply let the country go to shit and fought back in some capacity.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Mullvad Browser and Tor Browser have unique-per-computer persistent IDs on fingerprint.com
1·2 months agoThis has been my concern switching over to other OS’. I’m hoping as these alternative choices become more popular this won’t be the case as much but I do still have a Windows laptop I rarely use. Only use it for special use cases.

1·2 months agoSame here. Just lurking has been useful to me here. Nice to see someone in a similar spot (not an expert but passionate about the subject)

Linux@lemmy.ml•LinuxMint: When suspending computer while audio is playing, it loops 1 second.
5·2 months agoIt’s probably just your computer stuttering while trying to change states. Perhaps pause your audio before you suspend it. I don’t think it’s necessarily an indication something is wrong.
I suppose if you do find a fix for it then I’m curious but it’s nothing that I personally would be worried about.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•When people recommend Brave browser.English
1·2 months agoYeah that was one of the original selling points for me. Being able to use YouTube without ads, play audio with phone locked and YouTube actually works better on the browser than the app.

31·2 months agoI mean I’m open to other mobile browsers if you have suggestions. On my actual PC I use Mullvad and Librewolf.
Edit: ironfox was heavily recommended and have installed in. Seems good to me so far. I appreciate your guys suggestions.
Nah not 100% but we will definitely push up
Just cut off a friend who tried to tell me racism isn’t a choice. Knew him for over a decade but he fell into an algorithm that he became obsessed with. He really believed he was seeing the “truth” finally.

“i got manipulated” is how I hear it
Not that I think I’m not susceptible. I am. That’s why I hate ads and do everything I can to avoid them.
