so tired of people recommending thinkpads when there are much better options. the fact the control and alt key were swapped for years is enough to never get ibm or Lenovo.

I’d check local places like offerup. can get business laptops for cheap when places refresh. there are a few people around me selling 3-4 year old dells with i5/i7, nvme, etc. take a Linux USB and install it on site before you buy to test. they’re more than enough specwise for daily use or testing. often sub $300
21·1 year agoI liked him for awhile, it was informative stuff. But the last year or so it’s just complaining all the time. Not just about how companies treat us, but just everything. I just don’t need all that negative energy, so I unsubbed. It’s not really anything that everyone else isnt reviewing already anyway. You won’t miss anything.

1·1 year agooh god, the difference between some of my old rips at 128 and 320 is damn near night and day. i though the song just sucked, but the quality was just shit. also found a track that got corrupt, but still played, but at 1/10th the speed, it was about 30 minutes long, but normally only 3 lol. just stretched the fuck out of it.
yeah, i’ve thought about it. but it’s cathartic to find music/movies, download and organize them, choose artwork in Plex, things like that. I’ve got them all organized in media monkey.
I use OnTheSpot downloader to grab albums from spotify at 320kbps - https://github.com/casualsnek/onthespot
Use Soulseek (nicotine+) to grab more obscure stuff. Can get everything on there, just sometimes slower and not as reliable as a torrent.

Just upgraded my truenas and plex to 8tb drives. 1600+ movies, 60+ TV series, 40,000 songs. I seed as much as I can, have uploaded over 5TB this month alone. Come get some.
You can use multiple work accounts in the app, have some clients that have their clients give them accounts to communicate internally with them. Just have to keep switching.
2·1 year agoYup. I use one for DNS / pihole / remote into network. Already tiny, easily replaceable parts and any OS. I do prefer the dells over Lenovo though.
1·1 year agoIt was so broken when I tested it that if you dragged a folder two levels deep it would disappear. Had to roll back to get that folder out.
Nearly every single port adapter exists. People will not upgrade their stuff until absolutely necessary and will get adapters in the meantime.
21·1 year agoWhat phone? Never had an issue with private DNS on Android. Unfortunately IOS requires it setup on every connection, but works.

Make sure you restart the app after applying settings, should pickup new DNS and poof, 95% of ads are gone instantly.
DNS adblocking. I don’t see those ads.
