Your understanding is solid for not being an American. You’re not missing anything substantial-- people who are voting 3rd party think that the “dems need to learn” and that the dems can’t do whatever they want so their vote is supposed to be a punishment. But as you point out that if they really cared about this issue then they would vote for Harris because trump will do worse on this issue and all around. The time to make changes to our political system is not when you vote for president, but in the years leading up to that.
In other words, people voting for 3rd party or Trump over this issue are morons. It sucks that our political system is what it is but if you knowingly vote for anything other than the candidate promising not-fascism, then you are supporting fascism.
I just hope enough democrats understand this. I’m not happy with gaza either but our country is still recovering from the first shit show presidency of Trump, and fascists are closely watching this election.
Imo skip the open source license. You’re wanting to give this specific organization access to your work. If you follow the suggestions here and license it under creative commons or some other open source license then you’re also opening the door for others to use that work. It would be better to give the organization use of your work in its current form but otherwise reserve all rights for yourself, via a custom (non open source) license. This way in the future you can continue doing whatever you want with it, and maybe that means open sourcing when you’re ready to do so.

I just returned it, but my idea was a separate VLAN and block all connections except for whitelisted ones for streaming. Smart tvs/rokus/etc do a lot of talking and they could theoretically brick themselves if there isn’t an internet connection available.

That’s what we were doing. It can still happen. If the item isn’t received back by Amazon for some reason then they charge you for the product again, even if 6+ months later.

You can also block calls from unrecognized numbers. Doesn’t stop them from being able to leave a voicemail though which is both good and bad
From that screen-> three dots -> settings -> blocked numbers -> block calls from unknown numbers.
Here are some good rule of thumbs for work and schools:
do not connect to their networks with your personal devices, ever.
Only use work/ school devices on their own network.
Do not do anything personal on those networks. only do work/school related tasks. This means don’t log into any non school/work accounts.
If for some reason they don’t have a device for you but require you to use their network, then leave your personal devices at home claiming you don’t own one and make them accommodate you.
You cannot expect privacy in these situations, and by going to the extreme lengths to try to get it then you will ironically just paint a bigger target on your back if any network admin cares. In some cases this can cost you your job or get you in trouble with the school.

This happened to me last year. Bought a cs4 and cs5 design suites back when they came out. Only ever used on one computer. When i unauthorized my computer and moved it to a new one they wouldn’t authorize it and demanded proof of purchase. I showed those fuckers a paper receipt from 10-15 years ago. They wouldn’t accept it and required additional information to verify i was authorized to purchase the software at the discounted price from an authorized retailer. It took several back and forth before they issued a new cd key instead of reactivating mine.
I suspect the cdkeys were cracked at some point and i just had the unfortunate luck of mine being abused. Would be nice if they didn’t require online authentication for a product i legitimately own though. If they are going to require online authentication then they need a more secure way of generating their cd keys.
Pihole let’s you set up groups so you can always exempt certain devices from blocking if that’s the issue. Otherwise you just need to go to your router and change the dns server to your pihole ip
