What is the goto software/suite for ripping DVDs these days? It has been ages since I’ve done any.

I miss my MD player. Easily one of the best gadgets I ever owned.

I have a pickup from the pre-infotainment era, and I’ve considered how long I’d be able to keep it. Buying an old vehicle from the south an doing a restore is so much more attractive than anything that has touchscreen controls for hvac, media, etc. All of that shit is a massive safety hazard and a huge pain in the ass to use. It’s all garbage. Give me knobs and buttons all day long.

The only way I’d buy one of these things is on a factory-delete custom order that removes the whole mess. You can still buy some fleet vehicles this way. The day I buy a car that has ads in its unremovable infotainment system will be a cold day in hell. I’ll build a fucking car before buying one with ads.

Some mods have CSS/automod set up where if you’re not subscribed, you can’t post. This is actually against reddit’s own TOS, mods are not allowed to break site functionality to gain views, clicks, or participation, but the admins let it slide because it results in higher subscription counts.

I never made a claim that Lemmy was even remotely comparable to reddit in size. Just stating that reddit users fled to here, when reddit made staggering changes affecting many.

There was also DIGG. There were several large aggregators, but they all made changes that lead to mass exoduses to reddit. Back in the day there were sites like SomethingAwful, EBaumsWorld that served up memes and entertainment before we had purpose-built aggregation tools. Eventually reddit will make way for something else (and already has to some degree with its shedding of users to Lemmy).

It was active for about 3 months, until she broke the screen. I replaced her device and put the phone on the shelf. I replaced the screen and digitizer a year later when I needed a spare handset and they told me “it had never been on network” and was ineligible for being unlocked. Which is bullshit because the phone was bought and paid for at the time I purchased it in a box at the store with a prepaid card. As far as I’m concerned, straight talk still owes me 200$. Even if the phone was NEVER activated, I still own it outright, making it mine to do with what I please.

Not always true, I bought a smart talk phone for my kid and the phone was paid in full at the time of purchase. It’s still carrier locked 5 years later because they say “it wasn’t in service for x amount of time and therefore isn’t eligible”. I even reported this to the FCC, opened a case, and they did fuckall and closed the report.
