I had no idea!
Wonder if any of that stuff will make it upstream and if not if there’s good reason?

It’s sad, remember when terrorism meant flying a 747 into a sky scraper?
Nowadays whenever I see it in the headlines I just assume someone pissed off the wrong cop.
This is a classic conundrum.
Containers and their volumes are supposed to be ephemeral (right?).
Yet we use them to run little apps where we configure settings etc in the app which we would like to “keep” - thus back up. Yes in a proper set up you would hook your container up to something that is not ephemeral like a database somewhere, but often we just want an app, see it’s got a self contained docker image, and just run it.
Whilst not in the spirit of things… I’ve tried using Borg backup however it just fails due to random permissions on the volumes.
I should spend more time looking into it but haven’t the time right now, could be the solution is specific to the app/container but the simplicity of just backing up a /volumes/* directory is soooo tempting…
Edit upon reflection, what about a sudo cron tab to zip volumes and set useful permissions on the zip. Then Borg to backup the zip. Borg (or at least vorta) can easily run scripts before/after and pass variables relating to the backup though.
Author: “write me a 4000 word article on why microplastics are bad
ChatGPT: generates 4000 words of text explaining what micro means, what plastic means, and paraphrasing the “controversy” section of the Wikipedia page on microplastics

Indeed.
When popular “real artists” release songs, they usually won’t have written the lyrics or the music, leaving just the vocals, which they will auto tune and possibly even mime in future performances.
A producer will then use powerful software to mix and refine everything.
So really the question to me is not about “is there anything impure in this art?” It’s “where is the line?”.
How does the image scanning compare to docker scout? (Or whatever the docket desktop one is called).
For those also wondering (and I’m quoting a comment on Ars so may stand corrected…):
Isn’t this a violation of the Geneva Conventions?
Only if used to deliberately target infantry. The videoed operations so far seem to have been intended to burn away protective cover (trees/brush), which is a permitted use even if there’s a risk of inflicting casualties as a side effect of the application of incendiaries.
Awesome that they’ve done this but it’s still a lot of steps.
I’ve heard there are cracked versions pre-packaged so it would be good if one of the retailers could release something similar given the popularity.
Agree they’ve being easing their way in for a while. My point was specifically about advertising within the content itself which would be a new line crossed.
Edit: actually yes they did do this with Apple News didn’t they! (Which is why I stopped paying for it).
Content advertising isn’t “on brand” for Apple, so this would be a bold move.
Said it before and I’ll say it again - one of the most underrated games ever!
Manor Lords.
Plays really well but as one reviewer put it, it gets old after 20 hours or so.
That said, the early access bit is done well in that the content that is there works pretty well, and you can see placeholder for the other features being worked on.
Like right now it’s maybe like 25% of the full game, but that 25% works well and you can clearly see what’s coming.
What I don’t get is why some games (even newer ones) don’t work in newer versions of proton but do work in older versions of proton.
I’m talking games working in proton 7.x or 8.<low number> that don’t work in say proton 9 or proton 8.<higher number>.
I rarely seem to have any luck with newer versions let alone proton experimental.
🤷♂️
You could get “smart flood detectors” cheap on amazon that use smart life. They make a sound (not the loudest tbf) and trigger notifications on your phone via the app.
Maybe not the greatest for privacy but might start the trail…
What are the multiple purposes of this vehicle?
Just looks like a jacked up six seater truck.
That thumbnail tho 🤤
To be honest it wouldn’t even let me download it off a vpn, on a different OS that hadn’t connected to a vpn, or in a different browser.
Had to find somewhere other than the Microsoft site to get one.
Is this… unexpected?
Genuine question.
I’ve had some luck with Ubuntu, I’ve made my “notes” public in case it’s of use to you!
I’d started with bootcamp (windows) to add another bootloader option then went from there. Most of my docs go from there.
The only thing that really annoys me is the little notification things that pop up over the content. Like I have to wait to copy a password because it’s telling me I’ve just copied a username.
Oh and that it’s now pointlessly doubled the clicks, so to copy a username, instead of clicking the “copy username” icon, you have to click the “copy something” icon and then click “username”. So four clicks to use an entry that isn’t autofilled instead of two.
