Feels like so much of the AI hype is smoke and mirrors to get investor money, give it another year everyone will be wondering how the bubble got so big and popped and how no one saw it coming.
That being said I don’t think it’s going away either, just that a lot of investor money is going to be lost chasing shadows.
Especially when you see some of the tech being rocked in Asian cities
The reality of funding is probably going to mean that open source is off the table.
I’m with you, Elon Musk is a life lesson into why key services such as internet or brain computer interfaces should not be in the hands on the few. Path seems set unfortunately as too much money is on the table.
Is there an open source equivalent then?

Russian and Chinese hackers certainly are.
Well now they will just crush opponents via favours from the politicians they directly and openly paid for.

8·6 months agoKinda wondering who in that community is going to bat for Elon Musk after the last two weeks.
Mike Masnick is also been added to the bluesky board which gives me some faith Bluesky will less of a Elon / Dorsey vibe
But he’s left seemingly under a cloud, so unless the leadership changes I doubt he’s influencing decision making.
Let’s be honest these social media platforms will be a rinse and repeat. Just enjoy it whilst it lasts. Move on when the ownership go full Elon.
Do they drift back though. Bigger accounts seems to struggle to kick the Twitter high .
The average user is not even going to know this was a thing
