My org used Skype For Business and it worked remarkably well. Much more lightweight, though somehow still a little less responsive than it should have been.
It has that “it just works” factor for video calling, whereas Teams almost needs a fucking checklist to rattle through if someone’s audio or video feed isn’t working.

The code just feels… messy, unfamiliar, almost chaotic - but the semicolons and curly brackets in a neat little row, formatted in a satisfying way, is like an island of calm and order in the middle of a formatting clusterfuck.

I fucking hate launchers with a passion, almost as much as I hated when Steam came out with one of the Half Life patches.
Admittedly though, if there was going to be one current launcher to rule them all, Steam is the best bet.

Yes, Steam is pretty decent and yes, Valve have consistently shown good business practice and a pro-consumer stance, and yes third party launchers are generally absolute donkey tonk… but isn’t converging onto one launcher like Steam very anti-consumer at its core?

You make some points I agree with, you make some points I’m neutral on, and you make some points I disagree with.
In nearly all cases though, you appear to take an insular view which comes across as confrontational and adds little to the discussion but a sour taste.
It’s pointless discussing a topic with you when you either take a deep rooted view with no opportunity for open discussion, and/or take a childish “I told you so” position when hearing a dissenting view.

When I joined the workforce full time a good number of years ago. I was chuffed to fuck to be earning £20k a year at the time. In the intervening years, the cost of living has gotten ludicrous.
In metropolitan areas, I’m not quite sure how anyone but the DINKys can cope with the financial pressures of city living.

The best(?) water I’ve ever had that wasn’t from a tap is the mega cheap Kirkland Signature stuff from Costco. It’s still largely the same taste as the tap water, though I am fortunate enough to live in an area with decent tap water.

I’m not questioning that it happens - it’s a common thing in high volume hotels or high value airline routes after all - but I’d be interested in what sort of margins they oversell at.
That said, most of the documents would likely be commercially sensitive I should imagine.
I suppose it’s irritating that you pay (a likely large amount of money as it’s probably a UK ticket) for a ticket with a seat reservation, the least they could do is actually assign you a seat.
If it’s a free for all and - as you likely correctly say - they don’t oversell the number of tickets against the number of seats, then the reservation card of the ticket is a little pointless really.

Yeah I’ve still got my headsets from boxes with Skype For Business branding that have “Compatible with Microsoft Lync” stickers on them.
It’s probably closer in UI to Skype from the 2000s that the “real” Skype never really recaptured. Not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing.
