Which brings me back to the question I’ve been trying to get an answer to as to why someone would go out of their way to install an app that reduces the websites functionality.

In any case, the proper response should be, “oops, it was a mistake, thanks for letting me know” and not fighting me on it or downvoting.

Defending misgendering and criticizing people for calling it out is in no way better than doing it yourself. I don’t know why libs on here always play this, “Um, actually, I didn’t say that, I just defended someone else saying it,” bullshit. I do not care.

If you go around misgendering people, then no, we are not, and I’m in fact quite proud to not be “nice” about that.

Let me put it to you this way. If I see someone with a clearly female profile pic and display name getting called masculine terms, I’m going to aggressively call that shit out. So you can either:

1. Stop using a dumb app that removes your ability to see shit

2. Don’t default to masculine terms for anonymous users

3. Don’t get upset when you are called out for misgendering, just own up to it

4. Block me because you want to go around misgendering people and not getting called on it.

Doubling down on misgendering is transphobic. It’s fine if it’s an honest mistake at first, but the correct response to being called out on it, or seeing someone else get called on it, is not to downvote, not to argue about it, but to say, “sorry, I didn’t realize” and correct it.
