That doesnt mean they werent ignorant or inept, they were just aware of what was happening to them, and in most cases for rights it was only after decades or centuries of mistreatment. Its a reaction not a prevention.

As for toxic people in power, thats a lot harder to argue but toxic people enter and leave government all the time. It can be obvious sometimes who will be shit but theres only so many choices and again a significant portion of people are ignorant or inept.

When has the majority not been ignorant and inept?

Yeah pretty much, i mean you cant just assume because someone is a developer that they have a brain but this sums up my relationship with all the sales people ive met in my career

Me: Hey i need information about your product

Sales: Hey id love to swing by and show you our product line. How many can we put you foen for? Can we schedule a call?

Me: finds a different vendor

2. CEO is a real piece of shit

I needed to make an account recently, if you make it via a proper computer you get this and it sends it as an “appeal”… Which means they werent clever enough to separate new account creation from actual appeals. So of course what happens is it goes to some call center in some poor part of the world where they’re not smart enough to know the difference or dont care, they hit deny and you get perma banned.

This is not the same if you sign up via an app, which is amazingly stupid but whatever.

Ironically i learned about this by watching youtube videos for scammers on how to make fake facebook accounts.

Of course i immediately uninstalled the app, because i dont want that cancer on my phone.

All for a 2 paragraph article, i spent longer unchecking the fucking boxes

So i clicked okay, not because i trust them but because they just said that THEY would stop showing me ads… They didnt say that they wouldn’t keep farming my data and selling it to other parties.

I didn’t read the whole contract, but from the blurb i got thats certainly what it sounded like

As an engineer i hate both, technical sales never have an understanding of their product and are never able to answer any of my questions (because i’ve read through the datasheet as their words are meaningless to me) but they are mooooorrrreee than happy to schedule an in person meeting to come to my office and show me their product line.

Tell me what i want to know or find me someone who can, im not going to buy 10,000 of whetever if i cant even determine if they will work for my use case.

The last time i had to deal with one of these assholes it took 3 phone calls and 2 emails to get a simple answer which wasnt in their datasheet, which was all of one page long.

My favorite experience with technical sales is we had these component guys come in, they had openned up our product and wanted to show how much better their “equivalent” components were (genuinely a great idea), but they had no context as to what the components were being used for so they all fell flat.

In my experience both are only a waste of my time.
