And when it happens, you can’t remove the photos from your backup without deleting it from all of your devices, forcing you to keep the backup if it’s a photo you like.
I’m not pleased. I did the same thing too not too long ago and now I’m sitting at 90% capacity
Yeah my mom convinced me to trade-in my 8 and just get the Pro model.
I have/had a 6, but the battery became extra spicy and I haven’t gotten around to getting a replacement.
My Pixel 2 is still happily kicking though, no swelling and still turns on. Though the battery doesn’t last long at all.
They quoted like $450-$490 for my Pixel 8, but I imagine it’s going to be even less as the screen is still flashing green. Even though they’re doing warranty replacements on the P8 because of that, I’m betting they’re going to use it as an excuse to slash the value off the trade-in.
Yeah it’s absolutely awful. I haven’t checked out the trade-in pricing. I haven’t ever tried that before, I was considering trading in my pixel 8, but I like having a spare in case something happens to my main phone and it needs to be repaired.
But yes, I agree it is a bad look.
Agreed. I desperately wanted a Pixel phone with 1TB, when I saw that not only is the Pro available in a normal size model this year, BUT with a 1TB option I got excited…until I saw that it adds $500 to the base price of the phone, bringing it to a whopping $1499.
I’m gonna wait and see what the pricing looks like on Black Friday. I was originally wanting to keep my Pixel 8 until support ran out, but I’m already over half full on my 256gb, and my screen is having the green screen issues. I know I can get it warrantied, but the 1tb normal sized Pro is just a tempting option.
Yeah I honestly don’t know what took it so long. Maybe T-Mobile just felt like being slow?
Either way, I was really stoked when the pixels set up the carrier for me. TMobile doesn’t let you change/swap phones online and I really didn’t feel like calling and talking to someone.
Slow RCS activation aside, this was the easiest and most hassle free phone swap I’ve ever done.
Looks like the Pixels already handled that, when I check my Pixel 6 there’s no eSIM to be found on it under the network&internet page.
I’m at a loss. All of my other network features work, however.
Coming from a Pixel 5, the 6 was a letdown for me. I didn’t like how the size increased, and I despise the under screen fingerprint sensor, it’s very finicky; even if you’re using a compatible screen protector. To me it’s a major downgrade compared to the rear mounted fingerprint sensor on the previous pixels (sans 4).
I do like how I was able to get 256gb for it as I do need more storage, but I wish it had the option for 512gb.
It also sometimes gets really warm. And within the past year it’s had a couple of situations where I thought it died on me (screen unresponsive, doesn’t wake to power button, etc.), but it turned out to just be the phone having conniptions. Most recently I think debris has worked its way into the power button, as sometimes the phone becomes erratic, where it shuts the screen on/off sporadically.
Also, the modem fucking sucks on this thing, I have an unbridled hatred for it. My brother got a Pixel 7 and we share the same carrier and he reports he has no issues with his, so I’m guessing they’ve improved the modem on the 7 over the 6.
The Pixel 5 is still in my opinion the best Pixel Google ever made, it was honestly the perfect size and had the better fingerprint sensor. If they were to make the pixel 5 again but give it a newer processor and more storage, it would be a no brainer for me.
My Pixel 6 did this randomly a month or so ago. It’s definitely the screen when it does this. I took a screenshot and the colors were fine when the display started working properly again. So far mine has only done it the one time.
Oof, that is major rough, they got shafted. Though at this point it’s kind of tradition for Google to do that with the EU pricing.
I remember seeing rumors that they finally went with an ultrasonic fp sensor like Samsung uses, but nothing concrete yet.
I’m hoping the modem is better in the 8, I despise the modem in my 6 with an unyielding passion.

Did it work???
And what makes it more frustrating with T-Mobile is they don’t allow their customers to go online and swap a phone themselves. You HAVE to go in or call. My brother got a Pixel 7, and we couldn’t swap his 5 out for the 7 online.
I looked everywhere on that shitty website, the closest thing they had was an option “upgrade my phone” that just took you to their online store. Fuck TMobile, I hate them so much.
The Maverick is (comparatively) a small modern pickup. It’s the whole reason I chose it. I always wanted a truck, but I absolutely detested how big and inefficient they were, so I never bothered. I had a Maverick come in for a remote start last year and got to look at it and I quite liked it, ended up ordering one of my own that same year.
They’re legal here, but only by having the toy removed.
Candies like them were made illegal here in the states decades ago because there was concern (or it actually did happen) that a kid would attempt to eat the candy with the toy still inside and choke.
It’s why the Wonder Balls stopped being sold here as well, and I loved those as a kid in the 90s. They were one of my favorite things to get when I went out shopping with my mom.
Not OP, but you tend to see these kinds of shenanigans from phones that are locked to carriers, the carriers are the ones who end up pushing the apps onto the phone during an update.
Sprint was pretty bad with their bloat ware back in the day, when I made the switch from my Sprint-locked S6 to my unlocked Pixel 1, I never had that problem again.
My mom and dad have unlocked S22’s and they don’t have these issues as far as I’m aware. I know if my dad did he would have complained about it.
Wait I’m OOTL on this meme. Based on your comment and the context of the meme…is this implying what I think it’s implying?
I’m primarily a lurker. Back on Reddit I’d create posts here and there, but I’d mostly contribute to discussion fairly often. I only had around like 28k karma from comments over the course of 11 years, so I wasn’t super prolific by any means.
I miss how big the community was on Reddit at times. I’m still trying to figure Lemmy out. Trying to figure out how to make the instances work on the app can be frustrating, but I really hope to see Lemmy grow into a proper competitor and become more polished and robust. I like it so far, it shows promise.
It depends on the bot, but yeah I’ve tried this a couple times that I was frustrated.
The second I said “put a fucking human on,” the bot immediately responded with “let me get someone for you.”
Doesn’t always work, I’ve had some that just said “I don’t understand.”
Not in this case. I have a pair of Pixel Buds A that I’ve been using as well and they don’t exhibit the same issue. I don’t think it’s hardware related, it’s definitely software. Doing a restart usually fixes the issue when it rears its head.
