What’s infuriating to me is how casual the paywalls have become. Everyone wants a slice, even the folks who make cheat tables for singleplayer video games have an early access patreon. If you’re not getting a paycheck you better make it a side hustle.

I don’t think the answer is as simple as memes would like to believe. Personally I suspect the issue, in part, has to do with the cost of healthcare in the US.

Much like Republican voters have a need to pretend the GOP is actually helping them, I think holistic medicine rubes and anti-vaxxers have a need to discount the efficacy of unaffordable healthcare. They don’t need to worry about the price being a multiple of their income anymore, because they just now decided every doctor is a quack and a conman.

I mean that’s kinda what the new razr is. I got one because Asus enbiggened their ZenPhone to normal dimensions. And the razr folds in half but it’s still as wide as the phablets we pass off as typical.

The battery is still dense and the outer screen is still glass, so the weight distribution isn’t great without the extra length for your fingers to share the load. But it’s essentially an overgrown watch when it’s closed. I rarely open it, so it’s not like the external screen is useless.

And before someone compares the volume or footprint to a laptop: if you get a case for the steam deck with a kickstand, there are places you can stick it that a laptop could only hope to perch anxiously at best.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Wilds both run terribly and are their most open-world games. For whatever reason it seems the engine isn’t suited to large areas with multiple entities. Not sure if that explains Rise however.

Hell I usually limit games to 45 or 30 if they happen to run 50+ on the Deck. Not because I don’t notice a difference but because “what if I can’t charge my Deck for some reason?”.

Productivity is actually a bad thing, in the current economy increases in productivity has a positive correlation with increases in poverty. Look at how groceries are more expensive than ever while self-checkout only becomes more pervasive.
