Weird, last time I used it with nixos running KDE under wayland. Worked without complaint.

The only problem was, that the service did not start (or wasn’t there). You had to open a terminal and manually type in sudo spacenavd. After that, everything else was plug and play.

You can even have all nixpkgs on a different distro through the nix package manager

It should be possible. Although probably very complicated. Have a look at https://distrobox.it/. It allows you to tightly integrate containers into your desktop, including accelerated graphics, some devices, your homedir, etc. It can even automatically install desktop shortcuts. (You can disable the integrations of course) Even tho it uses Podman instead of docker, AFAIK it should be 1:1 compatible with docker for your usecase.

There is a ujust command for it. You can see the model with lsusb (if it is a stick) or lspci (if it is a card)

Check if you have a broadcom adaptor. They have to be enabled manually as they screw with other wifi drivers

Technically yes. However, most of the time, they just outsource manufacturing. Research and developement is still usually done in house. Apple for example, wrote the software and designed the hardware for the iPhone but assembles it in China because of cost.

Correct. If there were no tariffs, you could buy a chinese EV for cheap. In this case for so cheap that the domestic US/Non-Chinese market cannot compete. So in order to protect these markets, the product needs to be made artificially more expensive with tariffs. This way, the domestic markets have a chance of competing.

However, this also isolates the country and provokes retaliation from the other side. This usually results in both sides sabotaging their trade relations with each other (for ex. with tariffs) which is called a trade war.
